Anxiety

I made a home,
in the calm
before the storm,
safe beneath a
rocky mountain,
hiding from
past hurricanes.
But now, the
shadow of fear
is returning
to my heart.
Anxiety is finding
space in my mind,
engulfing the
serenity I worked
so hard to create,
swallowing the light,
tempting me,
wanting to flee,
trap myself in a cage
of uncertainty and
throw away the key.
