Love, Mother Earth

I gave you signs,
you chose to ignore me.
I gave you time,
you chose to silence me.
Years of drowning in smog,
cut down, mistreated,
unloved, unappreciated.
I have been screaming,
no one would hear me.
I have been crumbling
beneath your feet,
no one tried to save me.
You were too busy,
blinded by golden crowns
and silver coins,
connecting to electric
pulses instead of the
roots I planted for you,
to help you breathe.
I could not last one more
second without
taking a breath.
It was time for my
heartbeat to be heard
over engines and
concrete footsteps.
A life indoors,
serenity restored,
a cleaner,
brighter existence.
Sacrifices will be made,
but the new dawn
will be golden
when the end
of suffering is near.
Trust my plan,
a new beginning
is coming,
be ready.
