For some odd reason, Chrome was very energized to get some stones. He rushed off as Senkū started a 'demon level' project. Y/N curiously asks,
"What's this project going to be?"
"Kukuku~ We're making the antecedent of the computer! The vacuum tube!"
Kaseki and Senkū worked together, hands shaking as they made the lightbulb. The old man pants in exhaustion as the younger male explained how the vacuum tube works.
"Basically, it's the same as the light bulb but we've got to create a vacuum inside it. So, I've applied some phosphorus on the spot where the filament will heat up. When it burns, it will consume the surrounding oxy-"
CRACK
Their eyes widened, realizing that the glass would expand ever so slightly when the heat is produced when the phosphorus burns. As they make the second lightbulb, Chrome comes back with a bunch of stones.
"Look, copper! Cop a look! ...Uh, no pun intended."
Senkū snatches the copper, commenting that he arrived just in time. He makes a copper tube, explaining that because it is hollow inside it won't break the glass. All things were going well undil the bamboo filament burnt out. Everyone's face paled but he did not give up. They made many more lightbulbs but they all cracked or burnt out. Chrome, trying to cheer him up suggested his own ideas,
"If bamboo is no good, then do we need a stringer wood?! What do we need?! The expedition chief will-"
"No. It's not here. It doesn't exist in this era."
Some reach into Chrome's basic pulling out stones to see if any other materials could do the job.
"That's a jewel bug's dead body. That's raccoon poop."
It was the first time ever that Senkū went quiet and his eyebrows furrowed with frustration. He sat beside Y/N, looking out of the window in the bedroom.
"You know, I do believe we can find something."
"But, we mustn't forget we aren't in the modern era."
"I believe in you, like everyone else. I'm not saying that you always have to suceed. In science, there are such things as alternatives, right?"
"Yes, but not all alternatives work the same way."
Y/N grabs his collar, pulling him close to her.
"Keep working, keep going. The path of the kingdom of science will show. It's not just you. There's me, there's chrome, there's Kohaku... there's the entire village here to help you."
"Kukuku~ You're right."
Their faces leaned closer and their lips touched. The warm feeling of the kiss was cut short when Gen interrupts their session, making them push each other. She glared at him for ruining their moment.
"Senkū, Y/N~ Oh- Sorry to interrupt your lovemaking session."
"W-We aren't lovemaking! Shut up, Gen!"
"Yeah, yeah. Anyways, It's new year's day. We've got to watch the first sunrise with everyone."
Everyone gathered in flat ground, one by one coming out to start the new year together. Slowly, the glim of the sun sparks. Their eyes glued at the horizon, the scenery suddenly glowing from the sun's rays. However, a certain brightness caught everyone's attention. The stone in Suika's glowed blue, a beautiful colour to start the new year. Y/N's eyes widened.
"Suika... Senkū, this... isn't this Tungsten?!"
His face smiled, an expression of excitement and amazement.
