"At last, the foundation of modern science! We've harnessed electromagnetic waves!!"
"But how do we send a voice across those electromagnetic waves?"
Kohaku and Gen were questioning Senkū's advancement and he smirked.
"Making the mic will be the easiest thing yet! So easy, even a grade-schooler could do it. Y/N, do you have any idea how it's done?"
"Well... If I can recall, you made a mic before with wine and seaweed."
"10 billion points to you!"
"We'd just have to take the little pink grains that build upon the top of a wine cork or barrel lid, then we cook it with seaweed. Afterward, we dissolve them both in some hot water together."
The team followed her instructions and Gen whispered to her,
"Did Senkū tell you that or are you actually smart?"
"That's offensive Gen. I had perfect scores in school! Plus, with the troublemaking kid Senkū, of course, I came across his crazy experiments."
The lettuce-head took the crystals, putting it in a plastic megaphone to make a mic. Kohaku innocently asks,
"Mmm... by the way, I get this whole voice dancing off in the skies bit and all but how exactly are we gonna catch it to hear it?"
The team went quiet and the scientist blatantly states,
"Ah, crap. We need another one of these."
It took a while to make another set but Y/N helped to boost the efficiency with her knowledge. The group was split into two, making a hut on another end and connecting the phones with the cable that was made. Ginro coughed,
"Ahem, Chrome. Now that we've finally connected the telephone, have you decided on the most important thing? What the first message across it will be? This is your big chance to tell her your true feelings, isn't it?"
Everyone's ears perked up in interest. Y/N commands,
"Communication switch on!"
Chrome gulped,
"Ruri!... Didja see, Ruri?! Crazy, right?! Science is insane, isn't it?"
Ruri flinched at the sound that came out from the megaphone, shocking everyone in the room. Y/N, in the same hut as Chrome, facepalmed at his confession failure.
"At least Senkū had the guts to confess. I guess Chrome's not getting the girl for a while."
Chrome was just confused at everyone's reactions. There was some ruckus going on from the other side and suddenly rushing out of the hut. The team noticed Senkū and Gen running, quickly following them to see what was up. They arrived at the graveyard, Senkū holding up a stone.
"A time capsule!!"
Some discussion on how to break the stone, which supposedly had glass inside. Kohaku, most likely the best choice out of all brute force, smashed the stone and it slowly cracked open. Senkū took the plate, dipping it in hydrochloric acid and it came out as a shiny glass disk.
"Kukuku makes you think of something, doesn't it? Speaking with a needle..."
Gen grabbed the disk, amazed at the discovery.
"A record!"
Y/N placed a hand on Senku's shoulders, smiling softly.
"Senkū was this left by that old man??? Though you're not related by blood I can see that he definitely influenced your craziness."
