A few days before graduation...
" Chloe! Your parents are calling! " Exclaimed Marie.
" Just hang up, " I replied.
Hearing that news made my face turn to a sour face. During these college years, I try to forget about my family, they were the one who kicked me out, they were the one wanting to get rid of me, yet they are the one trying to reach me, what's wrong with them?
I took my stuff and headed back to the dorm. Graduation day is almost here. Now all we do is just rehearse for our performance and clean up. I didn't really think of the fact that there won't be any parent representatives to watch me graduate, and I didn't expect my parents to come here and watch me graduate. I am never alone, I have to be independent, that's what I always tell myself.
I rested a bit and directly went to the cafe. I gotta work! After working, I laid in bed and slept.
Morning Marie! " I greeted.
I got up at 5.00 a.m. I showered and quickly made some sandwiches. I was very early. So I made a ham and cheese sandwich.
At 6.00 a.m Marie got up. She showered and we had breakfast together. Then, we headed to class. Our last day before graduation day! We were pure excitement filled our bodies. Also kinda sad because after this I have to go my own way.
*ding I checked my phone. Another call from my parents! Ugh! All the messages Mom sent me, I just read them. Probably have been hundreds or thousands of messages she sent. A lot of missed calls too. Not just mom, it's the same with dad. I was getting sicker day by day. I might as well block them. But I didn't. I don't know why. There's just this little voice in my head saying I shouldn't block them. They are still my family after all.
" See you after class finishes! " Marie said while waving. I waved back at her. Last day! I was very excited. Maybe I would find the guy after this, we never know...
After class finishes, Marie and I went to our dorms and chilled out, enjoying the times together we had left.
" So, Marie, what are you going to do after you graduate? " I asked. Trying to start a conversation between us.
" I will apply at a restaurant and start working, " Marie said confidently. " How about you? "
" I will start writing stories and submitting them to multiple publishers, " I replied.
" I'm gonna miss you Chloe, " Marie suddenly said.
" I'm gonna miss you too, " I replied. We hugged each other. It felt so warm in her hug. As warm as a mother's hug. I gotta admit. I missed my mom's loving, warm hug.
" Let's eat dinner, go out? " Marie asked.
" Sure! Probably our last meal together " I said. " Nope gotta stay positive! Let's go! " I exclaimed.
We ate dinner together, I count Marie as my family, my sister, not by blood, but by heart. After dinner, we went to bed and slept, graduation day awaits!
