Chapter NINETEEN

Tris's POV
It has been a week since we were wandering around. It is the day we enter the darkest area of the forest. Oddly I wasn't afraid. The mere presence of Mason brought peace to my heart. And that what scared me the most. I couldn't have feelings for him. Not here , not in my situation. I've had a breakup, a painful one and I wasn't ready for another one.

"Stop!" We stopped immediately. And looked at Mason.

"What's wrong?" I asked him.

"Follow my steps. I have the map and the forest here is dangerous." We followed him step by step. We continued walking careful not to get hurt.

"Are you okay?" Mason turned to me.

"Yeah totally fine. " I replied. The thing is I was now really scared. Not because I'm afraid I'd get hurt, but I was afraid I would lose one of my friends who became my family. Even the boys were now part of our little friendship.

"Come on." He urged us. I took a step forward but slipped and fell in the moving sands.

"MASON!"

"TRIS." They all shouted .

"Hang on Tris." Mason shouted. He took my hand and tried to take me out. But he was failing.

"My arm hurts." I said.

"Okay wait I'll bring a stick." He started to panic.

"Tris we'll save you." Mira said. Seconds later Mason came back with a stick. I hold it and he started taking me out.

"It's not working." As I said that the stick broke in half.

"My head hurts so bad. " I started feeling dizzy. "Please get me out." I whispered unable to talk anymore.

"Tris no baby please keep your eyes open we'll get you out." After many tries later they were able to get me out. I started coughing and hugged Mason so hard.

"Thank god Tris." I cried and they all joined the hug.

"I suggest you girls go back to the hotel and we continue."

"No." I said. "We continue together."

"I've had enough of this conversation. Stop it."

"Mira's right."

"TRIS! MASON!" We were currently woke up by Mira's screaming.

"What? What happened??"

"Jacob and Anna are missing."

"Maybe they are somewhere private?"

"No there's a letter."

"Fuck." Mason said.

"Bella and Charlie have gone missing too." Theo came from behind us.

"Omg no!"

"This fucker is playing with us."

"Please make him stop."

"Us the four will not leave each other's side."

"Yes please ." We started hearing strange sounds. Wait. It's the sound of screaming. I fell on my knees and put my hands on my ears.

"STOP!" After agonizing minutes the sounds stopped.

"Tris come on." I put my head on Mason's chest while he hugged me.
