It's Christmas eve. I felt a hard slap on my cheek, "Ow" I complained, still laying on my bed. I felt a harder slap on my leg. "OW!" I opened my left eye to see my sister's face right in front of mine. I closed my eye to continue my sleep, but as I realized little by little, I opened them again immediately, and sat up.
My eyes were as wide as it can get. I stood up, and jumped on to her. "You're here, you're here, you're here!!" I screamed excitedly. "Yea, I'm here, you big baby." She smile with annoyance. I got off of her and sat on my bed. "Ya, got somethin' for me?" I joked, "Hell no." She replied, "Why in the world would I?!" I gave her these puppy dog eyes I always do if I wanted something. She laughed sarcastically and placed her hand back on her suitcase's handle. "Right. I'm going back to my apartment." She joked, as she turned to face the door. "Nice seeing you, Skar." She walked out of the room. "Meet ya downstairs!" I laughed.
I head downstairs after I've brushed my hair. I see Stella sitting with my mom and dad at the dining table, laughing and talking. "Oh. Thanks for inviting me to join." I spoke loudly so they could clearly hear. They were pretending that they didn't hear anything. I head on and sat beside my mom. I basically just watched as they talk about random things, like relatives coming over, Stella's life in college and more things I am not related to.
"Oh. Hi there. I didn't notice you." My mom said surprisingly, "How long have you been here?" My dad asked. I looked at them confusedly then after a while, they burst out laughing. "What?" I asked, "We tried acting how it was back then, when you weren't born yet and pretended I was still the only child." Stella explained, "Just to see your precious reaction." I rolled my eyes to realize how my family is actually very immature. "We couldn't do it" My dad said optimistically, "You're too special" said my mom as she kissed my cheek before she walks to the kitchen.
As the time pass by, my mom cooking lunch, dad working on some mechanical paper things for work. I, on the other hand, just decided to chill with my college student sister on the couch and watched tv.
"So, how's school?" She asked, "Fine. It's pretty boring, honestly." I sighed, as I drank my hot chocolate. "How's Dylan?" I choked on my drink for a moment when she asked that question. "What do you mean?" I said with one of my eyebrows lift up. "Oh, c'mon sis." She replied, "It's so obvious that you like him." My cheeks immediately flushed red. I felt so warm, even though it was pretty chilly. "I.. uh.." I hesitated. "What?! What the hell are you talking about?" I denied.
"I heard you were blushing throughout the whole time you had dinner with them that night" She winked as she sips some of her hot chocolate. "What the fuck.." I felt my cheeks blush more. "Just shut up, okay." I left the couch and went up to our room.
"Lunch is ready!" I heard a bang on the door. I opened my eyes and found that I fell asleep. I opened the door and the smell of the delicious meal our dear mother cooked was floating around the house. I head downstairs and sat on one of the chairs. We said grace, then started munching all up.
"Hey, Skar." Stella called me. I didn't want to talk to her, since she did that thing earlier. I was pretty pissed at her. "Skar?" She said loudly, "Are you angry at me?" I still ignored her, "Okay. I'm sorry." I still ignored her as I munch on my grilled chicken leg. "How's this.." She proposed, "I'll give you your gift tonight. Is that a deal?" I looked up to look at her, and then looked at both of my parents to see them smilling while they eat.
"Khay." I replied.
After we ate, Stella told me to get dressed.
"Why do I have to?" I asked, "Can't you just give it to me?" "No, I can't." She denied. "Go on. It's kinda cold, so bring something to cover up."
I took a quick shower and put on some long sleeved blouse and a pair of shorts, paired up with vans. Then I grabbed my jacket from my closet. "Okay, let's go." Stella said excitedly.
We took dad's car and she drove us to the new mall that had opened recently. We parked the car and got out. "This is huge." I said. It really was. There's a gigantic Christmas Tree in the middle of the parking lot and the mall entrance. Circling the tree, there were small wax elves making gifts in Santa's toy factory. There was snow spraying on the little houses next to the tree and there were raindeers waiting for Santa to ride the sleigh. It was absolutely magical.
"Well, what are we waiting for?" Stella smiled, "Let's go!" I pulled her arm, "Actually.." I giggled, "We're waiting for the cars to pass by, so we can cross to the other side." Stella nodded with embarrassment.
First step in to the mall, and I felt like I was in heaven. If the Christmas tree outside was magical, there's no difference inside the mall. Shops left and right, I wouldn't know where to start. Stella pointed out the view of the several shops, and said, "Well, Skar.. this is my gift for you." "You bought this whole mall?" I asked excitedly, "Yes.." she thought of it again, "What? No! I'm taking you shopping." I laughed, and hugged her.
Several floors we've passed on, and several shops I've bought from as well. Stella and I were walking out of American Apparel when I spotted Violet, wandering around the mall by herself. She looked pretty worried.
"Violet?" Stella asked, thrilled, "She's back?" I nodded and pointed at the direction where she was. "It seemed like she's runny away from something" I observed. I started walking towards her with the heavy bags of new clothing and accessories in my hands. "Wait up!" I heard my sister shout from behind.
"Hey Vi" I came up to her, "Something wrong?" She seemed too uncomfortable to be talking to. "I Uh.." she said hesitantly, "I'm fine." After that she looked behind her for a quick moment and ran passed by us.
