Dae's POV

"You're getting married." Beverly said as she burst into my room.

I laughed, "That is true."

She squealed and ran towards me and engulfed me in a hug. "I'm so happy for you."

I hummed in acknowledgement and held her tight.

"So tell me everything. How did he propose?" She said as she sat down on my bed.

"Well..."

-

I was on my way to Peter's office. Aiden called and said I needed to get there immediately. I was worried something was wrong but Peter wasn't answering any of my calls. I was really worried.

By the time I arrived outside the building. I stepped out of my car only to be grabbed.

"Aiden!" I shrieked as I got a glimpse of his face as he dragged me into his limo.

Once we were settled in and the car started moving, I started shouting.

"Woah." Aiden said and raised both his hands up. "I thought we could go get some coffee. Sorry about the way I went about it, I'm not very good at asking things, you should ask Peter."

"Where is he? Is he okay? He's not answering any of my calls." I asked worriedly.

He shrugged and glanced out the window. "He's in a meeting. Probably why he isn't answering his cell."

I nodded and we stopped outside,

"Toffee Coffee!" I said as Aiden helped me out of the car.

"You know this place?" Aiden asked and smirked at me.

"I met Peter here. Kind of."

"Well let's go inside." He pushed me towards the door. The blinds were down so I couldn't see inside but I entered the café anyway.

"Aiden why-" I turned around to ask him something but he seemed to have vanished. "Aiden?"

I walked in and was met with the most beautiful sight. There was a wall of fairy lights. The place smelt like Caramel Latte and the man I loved was standing in the middle of all of it wearing a huge smile.

He cleared his throat and offered me his hand. I took it and he pulled me close to him and we started dancing to music that just randomly started playing.

"Hi baby." He said cutely as we twirled around the makeshift dance floor.

"Hey." I said and played with the hair at the scruff of his neck.

"When we locked eyes here almost over five years ago, I never thought you'd grow to become the love of my life." He dipped me and pecked me on the lips then brought me back up again and we continued to dance. "But standing here now, dancing with you. I know that you're all I want. You're who I want. Who I want to cherish, to hold tight on stormy nights, to cry with during sad movies and to annoy to no end. You're who I want to dance with and who I want to love for the rest of my life."

He twirled me out and I twirled myself back. When I made the last twirl and faced him once again, I gasped. He was down on one knee, ring in hand and a big goofy grin on his face.

"Day Anastasia Carter, will you do me the honor of allowing me to love you for the rest of my life?"

I felt my head nodding and I tasted the tears on my lips as they ran down my face.

"Yes," I said softly, "A thousand times yes!" I shouted.

He finally let the breath that he was holding in go and his eyes shone with tears as he stood and slipped the ring on my finger. I laughed as he wiped the tears from my face and kissed me.

I was no longer a gentle breeze or something he would only experience as he passed by.

I was a storm. And he was the eye of my storm. His voice was like the calm that lingered before every bolt of lightning and his love was as strong as a million tiny raindrops. Together, we were the beauty amid the destruction, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

a/n - i started writing this book over two years ago. it definitely matured with me, and i'm glad to have finally been able to finish writing it. this will forever be my first book and i'll never forget the frustrations that came with trying to figure out what i was doing with my plot. i must've changed the ending four times before i decided on this one. but that's the beauty of writing, you don't know you're done until you've written that last word.
as always, don't forget to vote, comment and share ! 💘
