Growing up

Charlie and Mazalea didn't stay together long one year to be exact. But the stress of having twins split them apart, Mazalea took Rae and Alex and lived in her family home on the Rez, on the weekends the twins stayed with Charlie starting Fridays after school until Sunday evening. Bella came to stay with Charlie half the summer, every summer, and the lr. The twins went to school with Jake and Seth while being in the same grade as Seth. Rae became friends with Embry and Quil while Alex became friends with Paul and Jared who were a lot older than him and of course were our cousin Sam's friends.

1999

It has been ten years since the twins were born and it ended up being a bad day. Alex needed to be picked up from school and so Billy, Sarah, and Jake picked up Mazalea and RaeLynn so they could all go pick up the ten-year-old before going to the bonfire. However, a speeding car hit the Black's car and the car flipped. After being rushed to the hospital it was announced Mazalea and Sarah were both dead and Billy was paralyzed from the waist down Charlie picked up Alex and rushed to the hospital. He thought his daughter would run to him. Instead, she ran to her brother, Alex hugged his crying terrified little sister. He said "Rae Rae calm down, please. What happened? Where are auntie Sarah and mommy?" As she was about to answer a doctor said "RaeLynn come on sweetie its time to check you out" Rae refused to let go of Alex so he let her drag him to where she needs to be.

The doctor checked her out and deemed her good to go, she jumped off the bed and ran out of the room. She saw her father so she ran to him he hugged her and Alex who was right behind his twin sister. Alex pulled him and his sister away from Charlie and said: "RaeLynn where is Mommy?" RaeLynn backed away from Alex and said "dead, mommy is dead she is never coming back Alex" and she ran off.

Alex watched as his best friend and sister ran away from him. Alex said, "dad give her some time to cool down." Charlie said, "fine five minutes" Alex leaned against a wall and sat down.

Meanwhile, RaeLynn ran through the woods until she came upon a big white empty house made of glass. She went inside and the fact that there was no food did not dissuade the young child. She was 10 and it was empty it was a win. She felt a need and followed it upstairs. It led her to a room that had a lot of history books all dusty. She curled up on the couch with a history book about the Civil War and that is where she fell asleep.

She awoke and saw a blonde man with golden eyes and a black haired lady. She said, "ok I am still dreaming right?" The man said "right. I'm Jasper Hale and this is my sister Alice Um who are you and what are you doing in this house?" She said "I'm RaeLynn Mazalea Swan and I got lost my mom died today and needed to get away. I'm ten and well I found it and no one seems to live here and I needed a place to be safe. This room screams safety, I feel drawn to it."

(Jasper's pov)

(2 days earlier)

Alice said "guys I just had a vision, its weird. It's of the current chief of police's daughter a ten-year-old little girl named RaeLynn asleep in Jasper's room at the house in Forks Washington." I looked at Alice and said, "why my room?" Edward said "Alice tell him" Alice looked at me and said "Jasper, RaeLynn is your mate. Jasper in the vision you and I found her asleep in your room and we talked with her. She just lost her mom."

I stared at this little angel as she slept, her blood did not tempt me like every other human. She woke up and her eyes were such a beautiful baby blue that I could look at them forever. She said, "ok I am still dreaming right?" I said, "right, I am Jasper Hale and this is my sister Alice um who are you and what are you doing in this house?" She looked so innocent when she said "I'm RaeLynn Mazalea Swan and I got lost my mom died today and I needed to get away. I'm ten and well I found it and no one seems to live here and I needed a place to be safe. This room screams safety, I feel drawn to it."

I and Alice sat on each side of her so she laid down with her head on my lap and her feet on Alice's. I said "this is our family home you will always be safe here baby girl" she smiled as she fell asleep I messed with her hair and Alice said, "you feel it don't you?" I nodded and said "yes. It feels like I am finally complete" I pulled her completely onto my lap and held her close. Alice said "we should get back. Talk with the family." I didn't want to leave and Alice saw that she said: "Hey Jaz listen I will personally come with you once a week to check on her till we move here again." I said "alright but let's get her home or at least as close to home as we can get her" Alice agreed and she helped me put one of my hoodies on RaeLynn and we took her to the woods behind her house like immediately behind the first tree. Then we hid and watched her making sure she is safe.

Finally, after an hour a ten-year-old little boy found her he said "Rae Rae? oh my gosh, Rae Rae" he ran to her and shook her awake she looked at him and said "Alex? oh Alex I'm sorry I shouldn't have run away is dad mad at me?" he sat next to her while she laid her head on his lap and said "yes RaeLynn he is why wouldn't he? You scared us all normally when you run away you come back in like an hour but you didn't" She stood up and leaned against the tree I was in and said "I'm sorry ok I fell asleep and the dream was too perfect for me to wake up" Alex said, "wait, what dream?" RaeLynn smiled looking at the stars and said "I met him, Alex, in the dream I actually met him and he was so sweet but this dream was a little different he actually talked to me. However he had a female with him said it was his sister, you'd like her Alex I just know it."

Alex said "yeah well RaeLynn Major Jasper Whitlock is dead he went MIA in the Civil War over a hundred years ago," RaeLynn said "he is a cold one like the legends Uncle Billy tells us, it sounds crazy Alex I know but I also know in my heart that me and Jasper belong together and one day I will meet him and he will see it too." Alex grabbed her arm and said "whatever Loca we gotta go we have school" She rolled her eyes and let her brother drag her away with one last look at the tree I was hiding in. I sat in the tree a little longer she knew and she believed but will she grow up to disbelieve is the question. I left to find Alice and head home with a ten-year-old princess on my mind.

(3rd pov)

The twins are 15 now RaeLynn is sassy and fierce, this girl is not one to mess with she is also a bad girl. RaeLynn smokes weed and drinks alcohol she wears ripped skinny jeans, a band tee, and a beanie. RaeLynn was shipped off to Arizona when she was 13 making her leave her best friends Jessica and Lauren behind. Alex is the complete opposite he is a good kid he has never smoked or drank. Alex and RaeLynn do have somethings in common they love going to the rez, they both have straight A's and both have skipped two grades making them in the same grade as their sister Bella who is 17. Charlie loves that Alex tried to help with RaeLynn, Charlie didn't know what to do with his youngest daughter and was hoping Renee could figure it out. Well, she couldn't and Bella decided to go live with her dad so RaeLynn got shipped back as well.

Charlie Swan sat at his kitchen table and read the paper as his children got ready for school. Alex came down first and grabbed some cereal to wait for his sister. She has a room in the attic because when her mom died she demanded her own room. Bella came down second and sat next to Alex Its Bella and RaeLynn's first day at forks high Bella said: "dad when she comes down you will not like her outfit or her attitude but it won't matter what you say she will not change."

RaeLynn was in her closet trying to find an outfit it took her 20 minutes but she decided on this.

Charlie saw his youngest daughter come down and he had an absolute fit he said "what the hell do you think you are wearing?" and she said "clothes" he said "change. Now!" she looked at him with zero fear or care and said "nope, come on Bella or ill walk" Bella silently got up and followed her little sister knowing full well she will indeed walk. Alex followed his sisters, Charlie went to work pissed off.
