Chapter 3- Someone at the door

I am in bed and I am thinking but I don't know what to do. Isn't it better for me and Harlin to just tell Abby? It's the weekend, so I don't have to go to school today. I'm going to Abby's house. I knocked on the window and someone opened the door. "Hey, you're Caleb, right? Harlin's best friend? she asked "Yes I have something important to tell you" I said. Abby's parents were not at home so I was allowed to enter. I sat down on the couch. "I got your name but I don't want to kill you because Harlin likes you," I said. Abby did not look surprised, but that is certainly because many people have her name. "Thank you I think...." she said. I was planning to walk out again but I forgot to ask. "How many times do you participate?" I asked. She looked down and said softly, "I broke 3 lines so my name is participating 15 times this year." I opened the front door to go home but suddenly someone is at the door with an ax. I slam the door again and grab Abby's hand and we run upstairs. "Who was that?" she asked "There is someone who has paid extra to know your address and that person is here now" I said. We were in Abby's room and we locked the door and I hear a loud bang downstairs.

The front door breaks open and I hear footsteps slowly climbing the stairs. "Stay here and don't make a sound," I said to Abby. I walked out of the room and I was now in Abby's parents' room. The man with the ax was upstairs and he walked into the bathroom. I pushed the man into the bathroom and stood in front of the door so he couldn't get out. "Abby go down there!" I cried. She ran downstairs and I was still blocking the bathroom door. The man tries to smash the door with his ax. "Caleb come on," I heard Abby scream. I ran down as fast as I could and the guy ran after me but I was ahead. Abby and I ran outside but we didn't know where to go. "We are going to the shed at my house," I said. The man with the ax gave up and he left again. We arrived at my house and walked to the shed. There were a few sleeping bags in the shed because we sometimes went camping with our family. I gave Abby a sleeping bag and sat down next to her.

"If you weren't there, I would have been dead now," she said, laughing. "I'm glad I could help. Your parents will be worried now because you are no longer at home "I said. "No, I've been away from home before and they don't like me because I break so many rules," said Abby. I told her to stay in the shed, but my family shouldn't know about this. Abby went to sleep and I was in my room. Valorie walked into my room. "Where did you go?" she asked "I was with Harlin" I replied. "I did research on Finnley Walker and now I know he lives in City 9," Valorie said proudly. "And do you know anything about Abby Dallas or I can help you," she asked. "No you don't have to and I manage to find her" I said.
