Imagine 14: New Job (Zack)

Laurie's POV:

I quickly entered the building, making sure I looked presentable and I stood there awkwardly, looking around.

It was my first day at my new job as an events photographer and I was already stressing out a lot. I had applied to different photography 6 times, but always got rejected because, apparently, I was "too young".

I'm 19...

Suddenly, a man rushes up to me, extending his hand. "Hello, I'm so sorry. You must be Laurie, the new photographer. I'm Pete, the director." He smiled. I shook his hand politely. "Good Morning, sir. It's nice to meet you. Yes, I am the new photographer." I smiled back.

"Oh please, just call me Pete. No need to be formal." He laughed. I gave him a small smile, feeling relieved.
"Well, I suppose I should get you started on your first day." He smiled, motioning me to follow him.

As I did so, people around us were saying hi to me and welcoming me. I guess this was going to be a great job, because I hated working with people that were rude and snotty. Pete stopped outside a door and knocked.

"Who is it?" Someone said in the room.
"It's Pete. We need to speak to you."
"We?"

Pete opened the door and I followed him in, nervously looking at the ground nervously. "Boys, meet your new photographer." Pete said, introducing me. "Hi." I waved shyly.

The boys cheered happily laughed and walked over to me. "Nice to meet you... uhm.." The first one said, realising that he didn't know my name. "Oh! Sorry, it's Laurie." I laughed, coming out of my shell a little more. "Awesome. Well I'm Josh, That's Jack, and this is the crackhead, Zack." Josh said, pointing to the other two boys.

"OI!" Zack laughed, running over to us. "Alright, Laurie?" He greeted.
I laughed. "Hello Zackary."

After that, I had to show them what I could do with photos, and I showed them my files on where I went.

"Wait, you went to two photography training schools?" Zack said, shocked.
"Yeah, I was always trying to improve my skills."
"So you're like a professional professional." Jack said.

"Well, I guess you could say that." I smiled.
Zack kept taking small glances at me and my cheeks turned pink.

"Right lads, and Laurie of course. I'm gonna go sort out some more paperwork and emails. Laurie, you can get to know these weirdos better I suppose." Pete laughed, before walking out. "Excuse you!" Zack shouted after him.

"Not sorry!"

I laughed, flicking my hair over my shoulder. "So.." I said awkwardly.
"We were just doing band practise if you wanna listen." Zack said.
"Yes please, that'd be awesome."

They went back to their places. Jack sat at the drums, Josh went to the microphone and Zack picked up an electric guitar. "Ooh, I've always wanted to learn guitar." I laughed.

"I can teach you after this you like." Zack said.
"Um. Yeah, if that's ok?" I smiled.
He nodded and they started to play a tune.

"Hundred legs on the street like a centipede. Everybody's off their head now we're fucking on the guillotine. Hypnotised by the size of the energy. Volatile crocodile, swimming in carosine. You can't make us go away."
Josh sang.
Jack was doing an amazing beat on the drums that gave energy to the song, and Zack's guitar was making it even more energetic. "So fuck a radiology. Made us feel like the enemy. We'll make our own democracy. Kill the illusion, for the amusement."

When they finished the rest of the song, I cheered and clapped. "That was awesome, boys!" They thanked me and Zack called me up.

"Right so, you hold it like this." He said, positioning my hand. "Ahh." I squealed, laughing.

After about 20 minutes, I could play C, G, A major and F in a strumming pattern. "That's sounds cool!" I laughed.

I knew that this would be the end of mine and Zack's bonding.

OK I DECIDED BEFORE I EVEN FINISHED THIS IMAGINE THAT IM MAKING A BOOK PUT OF THIS BUT ITS GONNA BE BASED ON JACK, CUZ WHY NOT 😂
