Scarlett was sitting in her window. This wasn't anything unusual. It was normal for her to be gazing up at the stars that were illuminating the beautiful night sky. She always loved looking up at the night sky. She didn't care about the moon there. Sure it was beautiful but her main focus was on the stars. Looking so free and shining. Scarlett herself wanted to be like that. Free and shining on her own. The dream she had in her head that one day she will get to see the real world. More than just to go to the background. She wanted more. She wanted to see the monuments of the world known cities without having to fight some robbers or assassins there. For a girl than never left the grounds of her house for anything other than to go on a mission she had dreams the size of an air balloon if not bigger.
But today her reason why she was sitting in the window wasn't to dream to the stars. The reason was far from that. It had a darker meaning this night. Her blue eyes moved slowly from the shiny sky down towards the outside grounds of the giant house. The flickered through the playground that was only opened for them half an hour on Saturday. Then moved on towards the training field which was right next to it and finally it stopped on a scary looking building. The mausoleum. Scarlett's breath hitched in her when she watched the building. It was so scary. And knowing her brother was there made it even worse.
Klaus was taken by their father for a training. The fact that it was late at night already indicated it won't be anything pleasant. Scarlett watched them make their way towards the back. She was then ushered to her room by Pogo who told her to get ready for bed because her curfew was nearing. She was supposed to be in bed an hour sooner than everyone else. What a stupid rule that was. She didn't like it one bit. Never was a fan. But if wou thought she would just lay in bed you were wrong. She was practically glued to the window. She watched their father leave the mausoleum but Klaus was still there. He was there an hour already.
She could hear the other kids shuffling around in the corridor, getting ready for bed. They were walking quietly around her room, scared that they would wake her up. Scarlett however didn't even find the time to reach for her PJ. She figured tthat no one would even care. No one would dare to step a foot in here other than Klaus and when she sees the boy exiting the mausoleum she will go to sleep so he surely won't see her spying out of the window.
But there was someone else who had the audacity to step in the room. Someone who knew Scarlett well. Just as well as Klaus did. Someone who knew that she wouldn't fall asleep as long as she knew that Klaus was out there. And so he opened the door and saw something that he expected. Scarlett glued to the window. There was not even an attempt visible that she wanted to get in her night attire. Five sighed and walked further into the dark room and closed the door behind him.
"You know it's long past your curfew?" He asked just to let her know that he was there. Even tho she already knew. She could sense his presence from afar. The shrug of her shoulders made Five roll his eyes. He knew talking to her now won't be an easy task but it was something that he had to do. "The fact that you are sitting by that window won't pull him out of there." He pointed out taking a few steps closer to her. He wasn't expecting her to react positively to what he said. He was just hoping for any sort of verbal reaction. And he got one.
"If you are here to judge on my moral decisions then you can aim your way out," She said her eyes not leaving the window. Five shook his head. He was expecting such reaction. Scarlett isn't exactly a nice person when she is worried about someone. Everyone knew that. He simply walked over to her and sat down next to her. Looking down at the creepy looking building. He considered himself lucky that he didn't have his window facing their backyard. In the dim light coming from the two lamps it looked like a cemetery more than a place where people spent their free time during the day.
