A Traveler's Tale

Let me tell you a story

One without guts or glory

A story of two hearts torn apart

Together in life, their love was

Stronger than just husband and wife

Till death did do them part

Reborn again in a strange time

Natives who never belonged

They searched far and long for each other

But the love of a life that was lost

Just wasn't worth what it cost

And they were forced to move on

But that's just life, you see

For through the sorrow, their journey

Made the pages of history

And now we all know

The truth about sorrow

The pining of an incomplete heart

And so we're all searching for someone

Someone to become something

Something, without which we're nothing

So are we all searching for nothing?

Nothing to make us something

Something better than we were before?

What's real, and what's a lie?

We can't tell, but we can't deny

That life and love go hand in hand

And what of those lovers, you ask?

Well, here's a task!

Look up into the sky and tell me what you see

Cause up there, beyond the clouds

Away from these noises so loud

Are united finally, he and she

The first stars of the night

Twinkling even in twilight

This is now their destiny

Their love, a beacon so bright

It shines even in the darkest night

Leading travellers home to their family

And so my story ends

But I won't bow, I won't bend

For the night is just beginning

If you have questions, hold your tongue!

For I'm not that young

And my patience wears thin

So get out of here, I say

And go on your way

With the lovers' light guiding you home

Me? Oh I'm quite aright

I'll eat my dinner, watch a fight

And make my way to the next town

That's my life, you see?

For I too am searching for she

The one who holds my heart

I lost her once, long ago

'Tis a tale wrought with sorrow

But one for another time

For my throat is dry, my fingers are worn

And I feel haggard and forlorn

So let an old man rest

But come back again on the 'morrow

And maybe I'll share my tale of sorrow

Cause if you ask me, they truly are the best
