Ch-10 - Thief Revealed

Her father opened the door and Sophie went inside. A lady was sitting on the couch with another boy who looked like her son. The lady was Sophie's Aunty.

"Hello dear, welcome home." Her aunt greeted. "Hello aunty, how are you? And who is he?" Sophie asked "Oh, I'm fine dear, and he is my son, Jacob. We need to talk to you privately. Do you mind?" Her aunt asked. "Sure, no problem."

"So, what did you want to talk about?" Sophie asked. "Oh yea, here's your diary." Her aunt said. Sophie looked at her with a face which clearly said 'No way.'

"Don't look at me like that. Yes, I took it and I have an explanation." Her aunt said. Sophie looked at her dumbfounded.

"So, as you know that I'm your mother's sister, I know a lot about her. Since childhood, she always wanted to marry a writer. And she did! She married your father and had you. And when she found out that you liked writing," She paused. "She was the happiest person alive. She always wanted you to pursue your dream. No matter what. Please don't give up, I've read your stories and I'm honest, I've never read such good books. You may have difficulties pursuing your dream, but never give up."

Sophie remained quiet. Her aunt continued "I can say that you will have problems becoming a writer, and you might feel like giving up, but don't. I know you can do it. Your friends, Suzie and Charlotte will help you through this-" "How do you know my friend's names?" Sophie asked.

"Oh, my son Jacob has been spying on you. He's been telling me whatever you are doing." Jacob looked away and Sophie asked "How did you take my diary?" "Oh, when I came the day before yesterday. While I was talking to your dad, Jacob slipped into your room."

Sophie was again dumbfounded. Yes, Jacob was short, but she didn't expect her dad to be so careless. Parents these days.

"So it was him all along?"
