Baby Sister

(To statt this off Kai's one and his parents decide to tell him that he's having a baby sibling on Valentine's Day.)

Kai was casually sitting in the garden, running his fingers through the pond water and playing with his stuffed animal, when his parents came up to him. They had been in the garden anyway, just talking about something, and then decided it would be the right time.

"Kai, we have something to tell you." His mother said from the distance, walking up to the small baby and picking him up. He looked confused, and his little freckles scrunched up. He had learned to talk a few months ago, but they still couldn't really underneath anything but 'mom' and 'dad'.

"Is thiss why you hav' ben gettin' sick?" He asked softly, and even for a stubborn one year old, today he finally genuinely sounded like he was worried for his parents.

Maya smiled gently and looked up at her husband, who gave a light nod and knelt down to sit opposite Kai. He placed a hand on her stomach.

"Yes, well that's because you're getting a baby sibling." She giggled, pecking his forehead. Kai looked around confused. He had never heard the word 'sibling' or 'sister' or 'brother' before, what exactly are they?

"Wha are they?" He asked again.

"They're like a mini version of us, but they could be a boy or a girl, we won't know until June. So, do you want to come with us when that happens?" Ray said calmy. The little boy bounced in his mother's arms and squeal.

"I hope tha ther' a girl. Then I can protec' them with all my art!"

They basically melted at that statement.

(In June when they find out the gender.)

"Kai, do you still hope it's a girl?"

"I don' mind whether it a boy or gurl, they' will be my siblin'!" Kai said, with Triumph. Maya smiled. "Well, guess what?"

"Wha?"

"You're getting a little baby sister!" He said, placing his small hands on her stomach. The brunettes smiled couldn't get any bigger and he hugged his mom for what seemed like ages, before they have to leave.

"Are we gon' get stuff for baby sis?" He asked again to his father, who was holding him. Maya smiled from beside her husband. "Yes, Kai. Maybe you could help us?" She asked. He simply nodded and snuggled into his father.

"How much long are she gon' be in you tummy?"

Maya giggled. "Until October, Kai. Your as impatient as your father."

"Hey!"

Well, that went down the drain.

A few weeks after Kai turned two, his mother had been rushed into hospital because she was in labour. Worried, the other two family members took her, and they had to wait outside while they heard the screams of pain from the hospital room.

"Daddy?" Kai looked up at his father, tears in his eyes. Ray picked him up and held him. "What's up Kai?"

He began to cry. "Is mummy gon' die?" He sobbed.

"No, no she won't. Your little sister just wanted to come out and see you a little earlier." He reassured his son, who was still crying.

Kai wasn't allowed in when his mother had given birth, only his father. He waited outside for around five minutes, before he saw a doctor come out of the room with a bundle in his hands. Kai Stands up and begins to cry. They were taking his sister away!

His dad picked him up and took him into the room where hi skin was crying on the bed. He was placed down on this so called bed and went up to his mom, hugging her tightly.

The couple entered the room where their daughter was in, a glass box like thing was over her small body, and a few tubes her over her body. Her weight was constantly being checked, and at the moment it was at 2lbs, and she was smaller than normal babies.

They both walked over to the place where their child lay asleep. It had been a few days of being in hospital that they were finally allowed to see her, and it was heartbreaking.

"Oh, I feel so bad for her.." Maya trailed off, tears glistening her he eyes and he put her hand gently on the glass. Her husband nodded and stayed beside her for the full hour they were there for.

"I think I've decided on a name."

"Nya."

Today was the day that they could bring Nya home. She was still quite under height and weight, but it was decent enough to bring her home and finally give her to Kai, how had been asking and crying for his little sister all the time.

The two entered the room and saw their little girl asleep in the now cot, a small piece of clothing on her body, a blanket wrapped around her and a small little plushie. (Baby Nya is cute, fight m e-)

Maya walked up to the cot and knelt down beside her daughter, and stroked her hair gently. The baby opened her eyes gently and saw her mother smiling down at her, almost on the verge of crying.

Nya put her tiny little hand out and clutched her mother's finger.

"She's got your eyes Ray. She's gonna be like you."

"Yes!"

"Kai?"

A small freckled boy walked up to his parents and saw the bundle in their arms as he saw his baby sister. Her eyes we open and she was handed over to Kai.

From then on, Kai wouldn't leave his sisters side, at all. He'd beg to be with her when she was asleep, because it made him feel happy.

Yep, and that's when his overprotective side came.
