Hug?

Nya is 11 Kai is 13

Ever since their parents had gone missing, Nya had always been the one to keep her emotions away and in check for years. Kai had been older, and was much more emotional when he found out that they were gone. Nya had always been the one that was more clingy and never really like to be put down alone until she was asleep, but now she had to suck that feeling of just wanting a hug and to cry in her brothers arms and help him instead.

It's what sisters are for, right?

Plus, she didn't know their names until she asked about a year back. Kai had started crying on the spot, and Nya just hugged him, like she always did. Comforted him. When of course, she wanted to cry and scream because she felt like a disappointment for not knowing their names.

But of course, she sucked it up and stayed there for her brother, not for herself.

And holy hell, this was hard.

It was late at night, around 1:00AM. She's currently laying on her bed while Kai was watching a movie downstairs. It was almost over, and she really really wanted to jump in arms and cry, stammering on about the nightmare she just had. She had been blamed to high hell from her parents for their disappearance and even her brother blamed her for not being there for him. And now she felt even more horrible.

Okay, now she needs to get up and makes sure he's okay, make sure he's not hose or crying. Or upset at her.

She grabbed a small blanket and exited her room, slowly and quietly making her way to the stairs and seeing that the movie her brother was watching almost over, having about 10-20 minutes left of it.

She stepped one foot down the stairs and bit her lip, sucking up her tears and stepping another few steps down. By then, Kai has noticed her. He raised and eyebrow and paused the movie, taking full attention to his sister.

"Nya? Why are you up?" He asked, watching as the mentioned girl came fully down the stairs and sat next to him with a blanket in his hand. She then randomly gave it to Kai, wrapping it around him and then sitting silently.

"Couldn't sleep." She mumbled. "So I came to check on you, see if you're doing okay." She had her eyebrows creased and looked at him in the eyes. "Are you okay?" She asked, looking at him in the eyes.

He nodded. "I'm good Nya. I've been doing better for a few months now." He responded, sighing and looking at Nya. She looked like she was about to break down. On very, very rare occasions Nya would cry in front of him, or he'd hear her. But that was little to not times ever.

He sighed again, and took the blanket off him, much to Nya's confusion and dismay, and instead wrapped it around her. She raised her own eyebrow and shook her head. "No, I came here to give this to y-you-"

"Nya."

She looked up at her brother.

"What's wrong?" He asked, a stern but caring look on his face as he grabbed her shoulders. She shook her head again. "Nah, I-I'm fine. I just couldn't sleep and went to check on you. You aren't lying, right?"

Kai shook his head. "No. I'm asking if you're okay." He said.

Nya bit her lip and looked away. She shook her head and covered her eyes and with the blanket and her hands. Kai sighed and scooted closet to her, wrapping an arm around her shoulder.

"It's nothing Kai, I'm fine."

"Now that's a lie."

Defeated, Nya nodded and sunk into her brothers embrace, soft crying that then formed into hiccuping sobs that would make her trembling body more prominent. "Shh, I know sis, I know." He said softly, pulling her closer and letting her sob into his chest.

"I-I'm so-sorry.." She apologised countlessly. She tried to wipe her wet eyes but they only got worse and worse with every second. Kai shook his head and grabbed his sisters' hand. "Why are you crying? What's up?"

"I-I miss m-mom and d-dad!" She stuttered out, her sobbing becoming hysterical as she hugged her brother tighter.

Kai's face softened, and her rubbed Nya's back softly. He never never seen Nya like this. After her parents went missing she didn't like being picked up, she said that Kai should worry about himself and ignore her. Before that, she couldn't bare the thought of being put down and left alone. She wanted to be in rather her mother's, fathers or brother's arms all the time, because she felt safe and warm. And she loved them.

"I know Nya, just let it out. I do too." He let Nya Rest her head on his shoulder and cry it out, knowing she'll feel at least a little bit better afterwards.

After a few minutes, she had gone fully silent and still, and Kai realised she had fell asleep. He smiled sadly to himself and kissed her forehead, before dozing off himself.

They have each other, and they were honest ever since.
