Millie gasped. "Brody?"
You have got to be kidding me.
I alternated my attention between the two siblings and quickly picked up on what was going on - she had managed to outsmart me.
I knew Millie was out for blood but I never expected her to go about it like this. I always thought she was one to do her own dirty work and, to be honest, I didn't see this coming on Brody's side. I had foolishly let a guy take my mind off the game for one second and look where it had gotten me.
How could I have been so stupid?
A familiar, deeply set frown had taken over Jesse's face. "Is it true?"
I shot a quick glance at Brody, one of the few people whom I never thought would've ever become a problem. Sure, he was predictable as any other guy, but I truly thought he could've been different.
I tried to quell a sigh. "No." My eyes shut as I corrected myself. "I mean... yes but I was literally on my way to talk to you and-"
Jesse's voice came out fairly quiet but firm, nonetheless. "I can't believe you'd actually go through with it after everything I've told you," he said.

I took a few steps towards him. "Jesse..."
"Don't touch me," he scolded with a wince. "Is anything you told me true?"
My face softened.
His stare wandered around the room, as if any of those four walls was going to provide him with an answer. He then shook his head disbelievingly before harshly storming out.
I ignored the Snake's triumphant smirk and chased after him. "Wait!" I called from the middle of the corridor. "Just listen to me for a second."
Jesse stopped accordingly but took his time to gather up his thoughts and emotions before turning around to look me in the eye.
"At the beginning it was all a lie, you're right," I told him.
Those cold words caused Jesse's jaw to tighten and his brow to crinkle.
