A/n: long chapter to make up for the hiatus!

Waking up I stretched as I looked around. It was 8:00 right about now. Getting out of bed I got dressed and went to the kitchen. I stopped as I saw Garou hunched over the counter. I heard him mumbling as he turned. His eyes wide curious as his mouth was full of something. I looked into his hands to see my candies from yesterday. I gasped letting out a strangled dramatic sob.

"Garou !."  He swallowed his mouthful of candy with a playful smirk. I snatched the empty bag away,.

"Not my fault you don't have anything ready to eat." I sigh, walking over to the fridge grabbing some steak, eggs, and a few other ingredients.  Placing a pan on my stove and letting it heat up.

"Come over here and help me."  I cracked the eggs into a bowl and handed it to him. "Whisks theses ." He nodded obediently and began to whisk together the eggs. I smile chuckling as I begin to slice small pieces of the bloody steak on the cutting board. Garou's eyes flickered you the pooling liquid as he whisked.

"What now?" He stated in a rather calm mood He sat down the bowl. I handed him a few green onions.

"Cut these while I shred the cheese." He nodded and began mincing them quickly. As I shredded the cheese he seemed distracted.

"Hey short stack?"

"Y/n." He sighed briefly and swallowed. Seemingly on edge.

"Y/n... don't you feel weird with all that blood on your hands?" I quirked my eyebrow. His tone seemed heavy instead of curious.

"Not really I can easily wash it off," I commented as continued making the breakfast. I knew it was an odd response but I wanted to hear his retort. He paused contemplatively.

"Is it really that easy to forget the feeling?" He's asking about his past, isn't he? His yellow eyes narrowed confused

"Is it really that easy to forget the feeling?" He's asking about his past, isn't he? His yellow eyes narrowed confused. Finishing the last part of the omelet as it cooked, I turned to him.

"Look it's too early. When this is done we can eat and then we'll talk." I gave him a weary smile and got a nod in response.

Plating the two halves of the omelet I turned to see Garou. He was torturing poor Admiral.

"Hey stop it! He's gonna scratch you !" He played with the cat's paws one more time before sitting down at the counter and eating.  He hummed in thanks as he scarfed it down. Chuckling I nodded as I put a piece of my own omelet in my mouth.

This is good ...very good. Looking up from the food I looked at Garou. He had a tempting smile tugging at his lips and his muscles still showed through his new shirt. I admit he does look good...I chuckled to myself. Then again anyone would since it's been about two years I've been single. I brushed off the thought.

"We need to hit the sweet shop later today after I finish writing the last excerpt for the Heroes Almanac ."

"We?! The hell do ya mean we?! I don't wanna be seen with you." He pointed to his mouth and pretended to gag. I punched him playfully in the shoulder and chuckled.

"Last time I remember it was you who went and gobbled up all my candy, Mr. Big bad wolf," I smirked. His expression mirrored mine with a slight rosy hue dusting his features. This confident act was a silly ruse of a child. "I'm gonna get started so we can get there sooner."

SUBMIT.

"Finally!"Clapping my hands together I sighed in relief. My work for the month is done and I'd be getting my pay in a week or so. Standing up I ran to the kitchen and living room area.

Garou was asleep on the couch. I took this moment to just think. What was he trying to get at this morning? I decided it is better to ask myself. I gently shook him awake earning. Rolling my eyes I let go and went to grab my wallet. Shoving it into the pocket of my lose cargo pants I huffed. "Up an at em handsome!" I yelled with a smug grin. He groaned sitting up with a glare.

"T H E hell was that for!?" He shouted grumpily. I only rolled my eyes and nodded my head toward the door. He groaned following me out the door.

Approaching the pastel shop Garou peered in as he placed his palms on the glass. Glancing over to the less than mannered cretin next to me I sighed as I gently pushed in the door. The entryway bell gently clanked as Setu giddily approached.

"Y/n! Glad to see you! I'll get you the usual." I gave her a smile. As the girl bent down to grab a small bag her eyes looked up at the looming figure behind me. Her eyes darted back to me as she then smirked.

The hell?...what's that look for... oh. Oh ...OH!

"Garou meet my friend Setu. Setu meet my manservant Garou." She laughs turning around as she fills the bag with candy.

"Manservant? Now Y/n I didn't take you for the ty-." I interrupted before she could utter another word.

" HE helps around the house Setu! Not that !!!" My face flushed catching Garou's attention. Leaning down he quirked an eyebrow as he leans down.

"You hiding something?" Hiding something? Those words seemed to remind me of our conversation. I shook my head quickly snatching the bag quickly from Setu handing her a 10 bill.

Walking out of the shop I looked up, it wasn't quite dark out but the sun had begun to set. The door opening yet again as Garou exited I turned to him. My eyes slightly narrowed.

"Hey, you want to talk ?"  His eyes seemed hooded. Not in a harsh sense but more of a calm and tired expression.

"Huh? Talk ?" He asked seemingly confused. His lips contorted into a confused expression.

"Yeah, cmon. I told ya earlier we'd talk ." I turn walking towards a small playground nearby waving him to follow me from behind.  He jogged alongside me until I sat us both alone on the desolate bench.

"What's this about?" He asked, almost hissed as if suspicious he was in danger. His defenses were up.

"You hiding something?" I reflected on his previous inquiry. His eyes widened taken aback.  He smirks a little but it's more solemn. I open the bag of candy and began eating small amounts of candy.

"I wouldn't consider I that... you know how you were cutting up the steak this morning?"  I nod silently as I listen intrigued you the tone and inflection of his voice. "I can't forget the feeling of blood on my hands that easily. It can't just be washed off. It seeps in."  I let out a monotone noise of contemplation and swallowed the candy. Pursing my lips I tut briefly.

"You are hiding something and poorly." His eyes quickly darted over to me. "Garou I'm one of the authors for the heroes almanac and yet I haven't or found a single hero killed by the so-called 'Hero Hunter' himself. Only severely injured. There is no blood on your hands." His eyes widened keeping contact with mine. I could see his gears turn as he slouched over. His eyes shifted, searching for something to say. He came with nothing.

But that the silence said more than enough. He was conflicted. So I moved the conversation forward with a single word that had lingered in my mind since we had met.

"Why?"

"Simple. These people running around in spandex aren't heroes. They are people who fight for materialistic things and not people who are defenseless. Defeating the whole meaning of their title. While monsters may be immoral they at least will fight for a cause ."
I nodded in silence, taking in his statement. He sat mulling over his own words and sighed.

"Yeah," I looked up seeing it was getting noticeably darker. Chuckling to myself I continued, "It's getting late. C'mon, let's go home."
