“Sorry what?” Samara asked, as soon as she realised that Ahaan was talking to her, but she had been too distracted to listen. She shook her head. She knew that getting through that day would be difficult job.
It was 9:30 am and the siblings had come down to a coffee shop near the beach. She thought keeping herself busy would get her through the day. It was her last day in Maldives after all.

“Seriously? You brought me this early in the morning to a coffee shop only to get lost in your own dreamland? What’s up with you, you’ve been acting lost ever since you’ve come back from your date

“Seriously? You brought me this early in the morning to a coffee shop only to get lost in your own dreamland? What’s up with you, you’ve been acting lost ever since you’ve come back from your date. Was it that bad?” Ahaan asked, raising an eyebrow.
Samara threw him an annoyed look.
“It was just a one-time thing. And I’m fine, okay. It’s our last day here. You can’t really blame me for feeling low now, can you?” She answered, somewhat irritated. She couldn’t tell him what was going on. He wouldn’t understand.
“And what about Vivaan? Aren’t you meeting him today? No goodbyes?” He questioned, suspiciously.
“No. I’m not meeting him. Can we please stop talking about him?” Now she was really getting pissed.
“Samara…did he hurt you? Because if he did, I swear to god I’ll make him pay for it” Ahaan stated angrily.
“No, Ahaan. He didn’t hurt me. Calm down…he could never hurt me” Samara said. She was the one who had hurt him. Not the other way around.
“Then why are you being so bitter about him?” He asked, confused.
“It’s nothing. Don’t worry about it” She said dismissively.
“Fine. Just remember, you can tell me anything. I’m here to listen.” He said, sincerely.
She smiled slightly and sipped her coffee. She grimaced when her tongue burnt. She didn’t realise that the coffee had been piping hot. She closed her eyes in pain but didn’t say a word. She deserved it. She deserved the pain. She had been punishing herself because the guilt was eating her up.
Ahaan had already started talking about something else and she tried her best to stay focused on what he was saying. Both of them hadn’t noticed a black figure sitting in the corner of the coffee shop, observing their every move.
“So, they never released the video after that…” Ahaan said something, about which, she had no clue.
“Hey, listen” She interrupted him. He paused, looking at her questioningly.
“I’m going to the beach; I’ll see you by afternoon. Then we can do whatever you’ve planned, okay?” She said as she got up.
“Beach? Right now? What will you do there alone?” He asked.
“It’s just…I’ll just walk around. Sorry!” She tried to make an excuse.
“Alright. See you later” He let her go. He knew something was going on with her but she needed sometime alone.
She internally thanked her brother and walked towards the door. She instinctively stopped at the door when she felt something weird in the air. She looked around the coffee shop but found no one other than her brother and a few tourists. Why did it feel like he was near? She shook her head and walked out of the door.

She rested her head on the beach chair and stared at the waves. It was a low tide day. She felt bad for ditching her brother but she also didn’t want to bother him with her problems, he’d already had enough of her. Spending time alone on the beach seemed much more therapeutic than talking to someone. She missed him, that was it.
And that was the only reason she had come down there. She looked around, she knew he wasn’t going to appear out of nowhere and surprise her this time. She had driven him away for good. But this place reminded her of him. So, spending time there on her last day was the only thing she wanted to do.
