Kageyama 2

We were all in the gym for morning practice except for the three third years who retired after losing a three-set match to Niiyama Girls Highschool on the third round two days ago. Our newly appointed captain Sudou chan is trying hard to lift the spirits up of the players. Every member of the team was feeling a little down so Sudou chan had no choice but to end morning practice earlier than usual and just continue in the afternoon.

Walking back to the classroom I bump into Kei with his back facing me, he stumbled for a moment before regaining his balance "Watch where you're going" he spat out facing me with a glare stuck on his face. I rolled my eyes

"Whatever, we lost the other day you're buying me barbeque later!" I said quickly before sprinting inside the room before he can say no I heard him calling for me but I ignored it, expecting him to follow me to the classroom since he is in Class 4 as well.

I placed my bag on my desk while taking a seat, my seatmate was the first to greet me "How's morning practice?" she glanced at me for a moment before focusing back on her sketchpad

I groaned "A disaster, the captain had to dismiss us early everyone wasn't in the mood to play" Mei took out something from a plastic bag "Here to make you feel better" she handed me a cup of my favorite beverage

It was a large cup of boba "You didn't have to Mei" I cooed before taking a sip "Thank you!" I said while giving her a sweet smile and continued to enjoy the drink

Finally, classes are over I can finally play volleyball again. I quickly changed into my sports attire in the club room before sprinting to the gym, I was glad to see everyone in the gym playing again, it was an eyesore to see them all gloomy earlier this morning.

"Good Afternoon!" I greeted before joining the circle to warm up. We did the usual drill routine we start off with fitness drills after that ball control then we start practicing our serves and our main goal before the qualifiers start is to tighten up our defense so defense drills took most of our time lastly we played one practice match with the seniors who visited the gym to check upon us.

I checked the clock and saw it was only five pm we started at 3:00 pm, it didn't even feel like two hours for me. The girls headed out to leave the gym while I stayed wanting to practice more. I started practicing on my jump serves which eventually started to get boring after many successful serves. I decided to lock up the gym, my feet lead me to the other noisy gym where the boys were occupying. I peaked my head through the door and saw they were having a practice match against each other. I saw Tadashi near the door so I slowly approached him "Pst Tadashi" I called out

He let out the squeak before turning around to face me "Richi what are you doing here?" still surprised by my presence here in their gym

"Can I join your practice pleaseeee?"

His eyes widened "Let's ask Daichi first" he walked towards their captain who was in the court playing. I started to get uneasy when every single pair of eyes curiously were on me, both Daichi and Tadashi walked back

"Good Afternoon Daichi san" I bowed slightly "May I join your practice today?" Daichi stared for a moment before looking back to a boy with silver hair "What happened to your team practice"

I sighed "We finished 20 minutes ago but I want to practice more"

I heard him chuckle "Well I don't see any problem feel free to join is anytime"

"Thank you!" I said excitedly knowing I can finally practice blocking some powerful spikes.

I joined the team where Kei was in to annoy him and to see the King from the other side of the court, I wanted to see what the fuss is about him.

"You better block some balls Richi" Kei warned

Rolling my eyes I smacked his arm lightly "That's why I'm here"

I turn to face the net and came face to face with Kageyama, startled a bit I took a small step back, he raised his brow at me before turning his back.

Hinata served the ball successfully over to our side to which Kei passed to the setter, I called for the toss backing up a bit for my approach. The blockers managed to make contact and did a counter-attack.

The toss was given to the Ace "Watch out for the line shot" Kei reminded me before the both of us simultaneously jumped to block the ball. My eyes widened when I saw my arms didn't even go above the net.

How embarrassing

Luckily the ball went off the court making us score

But.

"What the fuck was that?" I heard Kei ask beside me

I slapped my hand on my forehead and groaned "Shut up"

The net was set up for boys it was higher than how the net is set up for girls and what made it worse was that I have a low vertical.

"You suck" I turn to glare at Kei who looked back at me his face clearly saying "You can't jump for shit"

I grunted "I'm working on it okay"

"A frog can jump higher than you"

I froze mouth slightly open I turn to the blue-eyed setter who just insulted me "Excuse me?" I heard Kei and Yamaguchi laugh as well as the other boys on the team.

"You heard me" he smirked I heard Daichi call out Kageyama for his comment

"I'll have to agree with Kageyama there Richi san" I sneered viciously at Kageyama "You little..." elbowing Kei who put his skinny but heavy arm on my shoulder dragging me away from Kageyama
