Verena To fear, to respect

Verena was 3 when she showed her magical abilities. It was an understatement to say that Aubrie and Theodore Reeves we're overjoyed.
Their daughter hadn't shown her magical powers any later than normal children of wizards and witches.But the two were constantly worried about her being a squib (because she was born a half-blood) but they were proven wrong when Verena had lifted a spider up with just magic. The spider dangled in the air for a few seconds while Aubrie and Theodore celebrated.
This celebration came to an end when Verena killed the spider. The small girls eyes widened at the dead spider on the floor.
"It wasn't under your control,sweetie.." Aubrie explained to her now upset daughter.
A few months later Verena, or Vera as her family called her, showed more signs of magic when a dog continuously barked at her.
She gave the dog one look and it was as if he had seen his worst fear in front of him. The dog started to whisper under her gaze and ultimately started crying out loud. It was being tortured under Vera's gaze.
"Vera!" Theodore called out. As soon as Vera's gaze left the poor dog, it calmed down, now out of pain.
It was after a few instances like these that brought the parents to their senses. Vera's magic was unusual. They looked through books, went to different healers and researchers to find any answers but nothing came along. Aurbrie stood at the muggle library, their only hope of finding something. She looked through hundreds of books and pages before finding something.

It was early evening when Aubrie reaches home to Theodore to show him. By supper, the two had come to a conclusion. They immediately owled Dumbledore and floo-ed into his office.
"We think she has powers other than her regular ones" Theo said. "What kind of powers?" Dumbledore peered down at the small girl with a smile. "Fear manipulation.." Aubrie told him. The headmaster's eyes snapped back to meet Aubrie's. "Are you sure?" He asked worriedly. "We might have to test it...but she once almost killed a dog that was bothering her" the father explained.

A lot of parents taught their children good values. Be kind, be gentle, be nice, share, don't do this, do this. But Atleast for their kids, no ones life was at stake.
"Now Vera, you have to control your anger. It only makes it worse.." Aubrie explained to her.
Vera could only nod. The girl was terrified of what her parents had explained to her.
