Verena Reeves trusted Fred Weasley with her whole heart but there was something about Astrid that just didn't click. One of them was her fears. Maybe she was just tired or maybe she was drained, she really didn't know, but Verena couldn't sense Astrid's fear and she didn't like not knowing. The girl lay in the grass, Fred had fallen a sleep and she just had too much on her mind. The stars were twinkling and the sky was pitch dark. The only thing Verena heard was the silence.
"May I join you?" Verena looked up to see Astrid standing there. She sighed and nodded, not sure why Astrid was there.
Laying down on the grass next to her, Astrid awed at the starry sky above them. Verena looked at her for a few seconds, skeptically, before turning back to the sky.
"How come you weren't at the burrow for any of the Order meetings?" The black haired girl asked.
"It's a long story. I was sort of on a mission.." Astrid told her, "Do you come outside often?"
"Yes. I can't exactly sleep. Not since my parent's death" Verena said in a low voice. Grief was funny, wasn't it? Came in odd waves, high tides usually washing over you and then suddenly still waters. It came when it wanted and left when it did.
"You must miss them a lot" Astrid a small strain in her voice but Be Verena didn't ask.
"I do..." There was a short silence, comfortable but also tense at the same time, "What about your parents?"
"Molly and Arthur are the only parental figures I have, other than Sirius." . Verena hummed in response, it was obvious that Astrid did not want to talk about it, and understandable too.
"You seem really close with the twins" Vera pointed out.
"We've been friends since we were eleven, and our families were even closer before us."
"Were you a Gryffindor?" Verena looked at her straight in the eye but nothing. No fear? How was that possible? Her suspicious on Astrid grew more and more as her hand slipped into her placket to pull out her wand at anytime that she needed.
"No, I was a Ravenclaw" Astrid replied
"Did you prank a lot too?" Verena was stalling, trying to figure something out, anything.
"I was better than the Twins. Outsmarted them in school" Astrid smirked with pride.
"What kind of mission were you on?" Verena was on to something. She narrowed her eyes at Astrid and waited for an answer.
"Um..I- I- I was looking for you" She stumbled with her words as Verena's eyes widened. She sat up and gripped her wand tightly, pulling it out but not pointing it directly at Astrid yet.
"Me?"
"Yes." Astrid sighed sitting up too. Verena was ready to defend herself in case Astrid attacked her.
"Why? Are you here to attack me? Are you a death eater?" Astrid scoffed.
"I'm no death eater. I'm here to protect you! Your powers, I have to keep them away from Voldemort." Verena was beyond confused. Who was this girl? Was she even who she claimed to be?
"What!? Did Dumbledore put you up to this?" Maybe. Hopefully.
"No, your father did. Not Theodore, your real father" Astrid said sadly.
"Theodore was my real father, I don't know what you're on about" Verena didn't know what was going on.
"He isn't. Your father is Jacob Stonewall" Nothing was making sense at this point.
