Vera knew Fred meant well but she didn't know how to cope with other people or with her own feelings. She knew he was right but she didn't know how she felt herself, how could she talk to him? Nonetheless, Vera knew she had to apologize to him.

The next morning, she laid in bed for much longer than usual, trying to avoid any contact with the Weasley twins. But she couldn't stay in for long. The Weasley family had already done enough for her and she couldn't just lay in bed all day while they did all the work.

Vera took a quick shower and walked into the kitchen to help Mrs. Weasley who said that she was just going to use magic and didn't need any help. She went to Ginny but they ran out of things to talk about pretty quickly. Ron and Hermione stayed in Ron's room most of the time. Bill and Fleur had wedding planning to do. Arthur had gone to the ministry.

Vera has spent all her life alone but this was the loneliest she had felt. In a house with eleven people, Vera found nothing to do.
I need my book. I need to work on my powers.
The girl groaned out loud.

"Something bothering you?" The girl turned around to see George standing in front of her.

"Nothing important..." She replied hesitantly.

"Want some company?" He asked her. Maybe. As long as Fred isn't here. Where is Fred, anyways?

"How about we play a game of wizards chess?" He asked her with a smile.

"Sure. But I am no good at it"

The two sat down and played for what seemed like hours, laughing and hanging out.
Vera had never really done a lot of things with her friends. She didn't have a lot of those.
George quickly learned a lot about her family. He found out that Verena's favorite classes were Transfiguration and Care of magical Creatures.

Vera learned that George was a beater in his Quidditch team. Vera didn't play Quidditch. She knew how to fly a broom but she didn't know how to play Quidditch.

George and Verena didn't talk to each other about their feelings or past traumas. It felt like they were never really sad. They bonded with each other over other things as Verena beat George in three games of chess.

"Thanks for keeping me company George" she smiled.

"It was fun. Better than de-gnoming the garden. That still gives me nightmares" George shuddered. Vera laughed.

"How come you're not with Fred?"

"He refused to come out of his room unless mum forces him out" George informed the girl.
"Why so?" She asked.

George thought about it for a few seconds. He didn't want to tell Vera it was because of her.
Fred had shut himself in his room to avoid her. Over the past three days, the twin had grown too fond of the girl and offending her made him very guilty. Instead of facing his issues, the boy decided to hide. George wondered how his twin was ever a Gryffindor. He also realized why he wasn't a Ravenclaw.

"He was avoiding chores. Mum's been driving us crazy with those" George chuckled.

Lunch was awkward, Vera sat with Fred diagonally opposite to her. She tried her best not to make eye contact with him which wasn't that hard because he was doing the exact same thing.
She at in silence and completely dazed into her thoughts. She felt too many emotions to cope with them. Guilt because she couldn't save her family, sadness of loosing her parents, frustration because she couldn't perform her magic well and longing because she needed her book.

The book was a muggle encyclopedia of Magical and mythical creatures. It was funny how muggles thought that these never actually existed. Growing up, her father had written notes and answers to questions they had about her powers. Her fears, her abilities, her weaknesses and everything in between. He had kept the book well hidden in the house and placed many protective charms over it before the death eater attack.

Unfortunately the sudden arrival of Lucius Malfoy put the girl on edge and she couldn't grab the book with her. She was sure it was at home and that the death eaters wouldn't have found it, but it was too dangerous to go home.

The Weasley family has been very kind to her and had taken her unsaid feelings into account. They never pushed her on anything or asked her too many questions. They knew very well that the girl was traumatized and that she needed her space. That was also the reason she felt a little attacked when Fred talked to her about her feelings.
