The warmth of the fire has frightened you in a way that you did not think possible.
Harry has noticed that you tend to stay away from it as much as possible but when the heater broke last night it was the only thing to keep him warm and so you had to just suck it up and hide in his bedroom while he slept by the fireplace.
You are afraid for one main reason.
You are not sure at what point the heat of the flames will kick start your transition and you are not willing to compromise your species just to be near the human.
As much as you have grown to admire him and his sweet gentleness, you cannot and will not be near him when the fire is going.
Since this morning though, the generator has begun working again and the heat was restored keeping the house at a nice 68 degrees.
Luckily, Harry has realized that you are more of an outdoor animal so several times a day he'd let you outside and watch from the big window as you laid outside in the snow. It was moments like that where you realized you both were very in tune with each other, in a way that was very surprising to you both.
You were learning things about one another that allowed you to coexist peacefully but not without some alarm at first.
The first day, you had discovered that Harry enjoyed playing music and he was actually very good. He had lit a fire in the fireplace that had you hanging out down the hallway, looking at the flames with disdain. He had called to you but when you hadn't moved a muscle he had just given in and assumed you were still adjusting to your new living arrangements.
You had watched as he pulled his acoustic guitar into his lap and began to sing with melancholy. It had been haunting but beautiful and you had been completely surprised by the hidden talent. You had fallen asleep in that dimly lit hallway to the sound of his dulcet voice and hadn't woken up until the following morning.
On day three, you had accidentally walked in on Harry changing.
You had just been meandering around, trying to get used to all of the smells of the older home, memorizing the different objects within the spaces and then you'd stumbled into his room. He'd just gotten out of the shower, a white towel wrapped around his narrow waist. You had stopped dead in your tracks while he walked around the room in search of his clean laundry.
There wasn't a good reason for you to just be frozen in the doorway of his room while he was soaking wet in only a towel but...you couldn't find it in you to leave either.
There were so many more tattoos on his body than you'd originally imagined. Sweeping swallows under his clavicles, a giant butterfly on his toned stomach, laurel leaves gracing the v-lines by his hips.
You appreciated nature before but...with them decorating his body like that a shudder wracked through your furry body and you had to peel your eyes away from him.
Disgust rampaged your body at your clear perusal of his body.
He was a human. Sure, he was kind and timid, but human nonetheless. He was not someone to be trusted and you sure as hell weren't supposed to be looking at him like your favorite chew toy.
