The sounds of your human's deep breaths almost lulled you into your own deep sleep.

After Harry's tears had dried, he finally fell asleep while lying in your arms and you could have honestly stayed there all night but thought better of it. When you were certain he was well into into unconsciousness, you slipped your arms out from around him and slinked off of the bed. Padding carefully so as not to creak the floorboard, you tip toed out into the hallway, shutting the door to his bedroom behind you, and made your way back to your favorite spot on the couch.

The moon was high in the sky and shown it's brilliance into the living room as you tucked yourself underneath the blanket you'd been wrapped up in just an hour before.

Harry's confession of his fear for your safety out on the frozen pond had enveloped you in warmth. That day had been such an absolute blur that your mind had only gone so far as to assume that Harry only went out onto that ice to retrieve you....not because he thought you were in any real danger. Your heart pulled in the places that it was attached to him as he'd explained the significance of keeping his darling girl Selene safe.

He was trying to make amends with himself.

He blamed himself for Blaze.

To live with guilt for so long was something you couldn't bare him to shoulder. Your human had clearly endured trauma and lost a friend in the process. You knew Selene had to come back to him and by the ring of mist around the moon, it seemed that would be happening sooner rather than later.

Harry woke to the first rays of sunlight filtering in through his blinds. He blinks and wipes at the sleep dusting his eyes before realizing that you are gone.

A mild panic set in.

The events of the night rush through his mind and he is horribly embarrassed. He had finally found you, after so long, and he had cried in your arms? Sure, you didn't remember the events of that January day but he knew it was you. He knew because those eyes were imprinted into his memory and of course he spends his first night with you sobbing. Of course.

Harry runs a sweeping hand through his unruly hair and then wills himself to get up out of the bed and face you. He has to. There was no hiding from this and he just needs to apologize and pray that it didn't freak you out.

The memory of his ex girlfriend calling him weak as he'd cried through the night just after his return home eats him alive as his embarrassment kicks into mortification. Harry doesn't want you to think of him as weak. He can tell that you are a gentle soul and you cared for him while he'd emptied his nightmare onto you, but still...the dread of being thought of as less of a man because of the atrocities he'd experienced, and the tears that the memories left in their wake, hurt him so deeply that he didn't think he could survive it if you thought the same.

Pulling on a clean shirt, he pauses in front of his door taking a deep breath before pulling it open to face you.

A light touch on your arm softly brings you out of your slumber and you are greeted by eyes the color of dew clinging to a clover. You inhale deeply and lift yourself up. You get the sense immediately that something is wrong because your human is standing away from you now with brows furrowed and his hand is scratching nervously at the back of his neck.
