The days dragged by and you found yourself never leaving your human's side...not that he'd actually let you out of his sight anymore anyways.
Ever since you returned, Harry kept you close and was obsessive about making sure doors were locked tight whenever he did have to leave you behind. You had clearly scared him and that didn't sit well with you.
Every day that ticked by left you feeling worse and worse about yourself. Not only had Harry lost the girl he'd been searching for, but he'd also thought you were dead and that he'd never see you again and you found yourself wondering if you were doing more harm than good now.
As snow fell in clumps outside of the window, you stole a glance over your shoulder and found Harry reading in his arm chair. He always looked amazing but today he looks handsomer than usual, with his black rimmed glasses perched at the top of his nose. He looks older somehow and his hair is starting to curl down to his ears in a way that makes you wonder how he wore his hair before the military. He's beautiful and you miss him in the way that only your human self could.
Your time together had been brief but it had left a lasting impact on your heart. Just watching him now, you can see all the little things that make up that man who has suffered greatly and yet persevered through it all. He is a wonder to this world and you are sure that the humans do not deserve him.
"Selene, darling...what are you staring at?" If you could blush in your wolf form, you are sure that you would be beet red. You just play the part of his dumb dog and wag your tail with a couple of happy pants before you hear him laughing.
"You are a silly one aren't you?" Yes...you are very silly when it comes to him.
You sit up quickly, feeling that damned itch you can never seem to scratch behind your ear and your silver collar shakes as your back paw furiously tries to get to the annoyance.
Harry and you had been on a walk a few days after your reappearance and he had found your collar lying near where he'd found you in your naked human form. You had been ready to bolt in case he figured it out but instead he'd just given you a lopsided grin and placed it back around your neck. You hadn't even realized that it had been missing until he'd found it and you were disappointed in your lack of remembrance. You could have tossed it somewhere or hidden it so that he wouldn't have found it so close to where you'd hidden your clothes but...your human had just patted your head and continued on your daily walk.
The daily walks were something that you figured Harry did to appease you. He believed that you had run away and knew you loved being outside so, you assumed, that he took you on these walks to meet you in the middle. He didn't want you too far away from him but at the same time he was fearful that you might disappear for days at a time again.
Of course you knew you would never abandon him like that again but...on these walks the wilderness would call to you and it was getting harder to ignore every single day.
A commotion behind you signals that your human is standing up and so you watch him trudge over to the door and pull his boots and coat on before whistling to you to follow him.
It was that time of the day, just before dinner, when the two of you would walk side by side down the little path by the pond that looped around it. Sometimes you'd both venture into the woods towards a different path but you could tell Harry had a slight limp from the ache in his hip so you knew that today would be a shorter journey. You hated that he would still take you on these walks when he was clearly in some semblance of pain but he was happy to do it.
