So, here Zak was. Sitting in his room and pretty much contemplating his decisions. Did he really say that? Why would he lie about that?
He let out a sigh. He figured leading Dave on wasn't a good idea, but he couldn't bring himself to tell him that he had lied. Pathetic, he knew.
They had sort of confirmed that they were in a relationship, but decided on taking things slow. Zak wasn't sure what to do, so he took out his phone and messaged the two people who would probably let him know he was screwed, Vincent and Darryl. He didn't know what else to do, and talking to them might help. They were pretty decent at giving advice.

Zak
guys i messed up

Vincent
oh god zak what did you do

Zak
somethinj i shoulfnt have

Darryl
Then tell us, you muffin! Now I'm intrigued.

Zak
so um,, dave saif he liked me earlirr tofay and i said i did too

Vincent
ok then whats the problem

Zak
i dont actually- like him- i just didnt want yo hurt him

Darryl
You've probably hurt him even more by lying to him, Zak :c

Vincent
you've screwed yourself over unless you want to own up to it and tell him

Zak
i kNOE but i cant brinh myself to tell him that i LIED

Vincent
you're lucky we're your best friends or else we totally would have snitched and told him since you're too scared to do it yourself

Zak
wow

Darryl
Well, I mean, if you're not willing to let him know you don't actually feel the same way, maybe you could try it? Dave isn't really the romantic type, your friendship probably wouldn't change except for a bit of playful flirting from him.

Zak
i guess ill tru i dot knoe

Vincent
you fucked up zak,, im telling you now that it would honestly be better for you and him if you just told him the truth

Zak
i know gsjhsksh i made a big mitakse

Darryl
You definitely shouldn't have lied, but we're still going to be here if you need anything. Right Vincent?

Vincent
you said it not me

Zak
woW,, thanks for the help idk what id do withouy you two

Vincent
you'd probably go get yourself killed if darryl wasn't here to be a mom to you

Darryl
HEY!

Zak
HAHAHAH- well im gonna go to bed goodnighy

Vincent
goodnight lover boy

Zak
shut uP

Darryl
Aha, goodnight muffin! ^^

Zak sighed, shutting off his phone and laying down in his bed, closing his eyes.

Zak awoke to him alarm going off. He shut it off, annoyed, before getting up and changing into a hoodie and jeans. He guessed that would be acceptable for school.
Today was Friday. Last day until the weekend.
Heading out the door with a quick "goodbye" to his mom, he started on his walk to the school when he heard a familar voice.
"Hey, Zak!"
"Dave! You scared me!"
Dave laughed.
"You're cute when you're mad."
"I- Shut up!" Zak said, heat rising to his face.
They both only laughed harder at how embarrassed Zak was, entering the building.
"Hey, you two muffins!" Darryl greeted them with a smile.
"Hey, Darryl!" Zak responded.
"So, I heard you're both together?" Vincent brought up, a teasing gaze in his eyes.
Dave rolled his eyes.
"Zak already told you? Wow."
"He tells us almost everything. We'd be surprised if we didn't know he was in a relationship." Darryl joked.
Zak was just kind of glad that Vincent and Darryl didn't mention what they talked about last night. He was anxious that they might, but luckily they didn't. Honestly, he was guilty of leading Dave on like this. He just couldn't bring himself to hurt him even more.
Darryl glanced at his phone and turned to the other three.
"Class is starting soon. We should head there."
"Alright. See you all at lunch."
Dave and Zak had the same class together, so on the way to the classroom, Dave grabbed Zak's hand, clearly flustered about it and trying to make it subtle.
Zak found this kind of awkward, as he didn't exactly feel the same way. But, Dave didn't know that. He sighed, a small smile forming on his face. Dave was nice to be around. It wasn't like he had feelings for him, though!
When they entered the classroom, they sat down beside each other.
Zak, as usual, didn't really pay attention. He was lucky that his name wasn't called.
A thought crossed his mind, though. Was he even gay? Did he feel any sort of attraction to males?
He'd never thought about it before. He just sort of waited for the right one to come along, not really caring about the gender. It didn't matter to him.
Deciding that he wasn't going to be questioning his sexuality in the middle of class, he settled down on being alright with getting together with a boy and turning his attention to the lesson.
After their classes ended, they went to go to lunch, sitting down at the usual table they did with Darryl and Vincent.
The rest of the day went smoothly. Nothing much really happened other than occasional flirting from Dave and Zak telling him to shut up, while getting slightly embarrassed.
At the end of school, though, Dave had turning to the shorter one.
"Hey, Zak? Do you want to go to an ice cream shop with me on Saturday? I know you're obsessed with sugar."
Zak raised an eyebrow, a playful smirk on his face.
"Are you asking me on a date?"
"Maybe."
Zak rolled his eyes.
"No, I don't want to go."
For a moment there was disappointmemt in Dave's gaze.
"Of course I do, noob! I was joking." Zak laughed.
Dave's eyes lit up again.
"I guess that's what I get for flirting with you."

When Zak got home, he sat down on his bed. He was confused. He didn't know what he felt towards Dave anymore. He could just be forcing himself to like him back, or he could genuinely be falling for him when they're already together.
He shook his head. God, he never should have lied. Then, he would have never gotten into this mess in the first place.
