Zak and Dave were both walking to the same ice cream shop they went to last time. It was kind of late, probably 8:30. He'd said that Dave was bad at Minecraft, which resulted in the two going to get it at night rather than after school. Zak complained about it to him the entire time, with Dave only responding with "Shouldn't have insulted my Minecraft skills."
Zak was only quietly hoping they didn't encounter someone like last time. He hated admitting it, or seeming weak, but it kind of hurt. He didn't know how Dave could be so calm about it. He didn't care what other people thought.
That was pretty admirable.
They both entered the shop, going to order. Zak hated being anxious that someone would say something, so for some sort of comfort he grabbed Dave's hand.
It took Dave by surprise, but it didn't bother him. He gave the shorter one a reassuring look, as if to tell him "don't give a fuck what anyone says".
"Zak, what would you like?" Dave asked.
"Chocolate." He said softly.
As soon as Dave was ready to pay, Zak did what he said to himself he would. He smacked his hand away and paid. Despite being nervous, that didn't stop him from having the guilt of someone else paying for him.
"What a scam." Dave muttered under his breath as they walked to a table. Zak laughed, suddenly not worried about what others thought anymore. He figured he'd be fine, as long as Dave was there.
"I regret coming here." Dave rolled his eyes.
"No you don't. It's free ice cream." Zak replied with a smug look.
"I despise you heavily, then."
"Come on, no you don't!"
"Yes I do." Dave said, although a small smile was on his face.
Zak pretended to act hurt.
Eventually, the ice cream came. Strawberry and Chocolate.
"Can I have a bite of yours?" Zak asked innocently.
"No."
"Why not?"
"You remember what happened last time?"
"I won't eat it all this time!"
"Yes, you will."
Zak pouted, holding his spoon and taking a bite of his own.
It had been around an hour of them eating the ice cream and talking when they stood up and left, leaving a tip just to be polite.
"That was fun." Zak commented, unsure of how to start a conversation on their walk home.
"At least you didn't eat all of my ice cream." Dave joked.
"Hey!"
When they were close to Zak's house, Zak glanced at Dave.
"I want to stay with you. Can you stay at my house with me?" He whined.
"I would, but my parents would probably think I'd gotten murdered if I'm gone any longer."
Zak sighed. He knew that would probably be the answer. It was late.
He felt Dave use his hand to tilt his face up.
"Lighten up, nerd. I'll see you tomorrow."
He leaned in and quickly pressed his lips against Zak's, and with that, he turned and left to go to his house that wasn't very far.
Zak was stunned. That was the first time he'd ever done that. It was short, but that was his first kiss.
It was special.
He really did like Dave.
A small smile formed on his face as he opened the door to his house and walked into his room.

Zak put his phone to the side and crawled into bed, shutting his eyes and attempting to go to sleep. He was actually kind of tired, and he'd probably wake up at 2:30am to spam Dave anyway. So, he fell asleep.
