Chapter 3 - Reunion

Sophie's POV:

Someone was speaking in her head.

Who is this? She thought, hoping it wasn't anyone evil.

It's me, Foster! Lord Hunkyhair himself, at your service.

She couldn't believe it. 

I must me dreaming, right?

Just then, she realized that she had been inside Keefe's mind unintentionally. So it was a possibility that it was him. 

You most certainly aren't dreaming. And please for once don't start with an apology. The voice said again.

Timidly, she transmitted to Keefe, Is it really you?

Yes!?! Anything you want to say to me Foster? She had forgotten how sassy he could be.

Well, for starters, YOU-CAME-TO-FIGHT-WHEN-I-TOLD-YOU-TO-STAY-SAFE-AND-THEN-YOU-WERE-IN-A-COMA-FOR-2-WEEKS-ONE-DAY-AND-ABOUT-7-HOURS-AND-I-COULDN'T-LIVE-WITH-MYSELF-KNOWING-YOU-MIGHT-NEVER-WAKE-UP.

Geez, someone's missed me.

Wait, Keefe.

Yeah?

Can you wake up?

Umm, I don't actually know because up until five minutes ago I didn't even know who I was.

Okaaaayyyy. Try to wake up then.

She stared intently at his perfect face, and how she really hoped he would open his beautiful ice blue eyes when she felt his hand twitch.

Did you feel that?

Sophie jumped.

You scared me, I forgot I was in your head. But yes, I did feel that. Try again.

This time, he managed to lift his hand all the way off the bed before dropping it again.

Maybe you need to touch me. 

She didn't think she'd heard him right.

Excuse me, what?

When I was still mostly unconscious you touched my hand I suddenly got a burst of energy. I think it has to do with your enhancing.

Okay. It can't hurt to try.

She took off her gloves before grasping Keefe's hand and channeling her enhancing abilities through him. Suddenly his eyes flew open.

"Keefe!" Sophie said it out loud this time, assuming he could hear her.

"Hey, Foster." His voice cracked from not using it for so long, but she didn't care, it was still his voice. She flung her arms around him and buried her face into his neck, bursting into a fresh round of tears. She felt Keefe's hand on her head, gently stroking her hair. Her heart fluttered. What was that about?

"Hey, hey it's okay, I'm here now. Shhh don't cry." Her heart ached for Keefe and she nearly melted from his concerned tone.

They sat there for a while, arm in arm, until Sophie had stopped crying.

"See, I knew you missed too much to be mad." He teased, a twinkle in his mischievous eyes.

"Oh, don't even get me started." Sophie said.

"Sophie?" Elwin called from his office, "Who are you talking to?"

"Why don't you come and see for yourself..." Sophie replied.
