Into The Future | Queen Naree — 1st July 2057

"Are you alright?" Juliana asked her eldest daughter, Naree.

Naree forced a smile on her face, nodding in reply.

Juliana had just revealed her plans to abdicate the throne in her favour. Naree really didn't know how to feel about it.

Was she ready to be Queen? Could she really fill in her mother's shoes?

Juliana had been an amazing Queen for the past thirty years and she had revived the public's faith in the Royal family and even managed to have more power than any previous monarch and now she wanted Naree to be Queen.

She sighed silently and turned away, once more glancing down at her fidgeting hands.

"Naree, you have to understand, I don't want the like my granny, I want to enjoy life while I still have time to move around. She sat on the throne for so long that during her final days she wasn't be able to rest easily and my father had a short reign due to his age and health and I do not want that for you." Juliana said as she placed a comforting hand on her daughter's fidgety hands.

Naree nodded.

"You have nothing to worry about, Naree, everyone loves you." Juliana said.

Naree frowned and glanced down at her dress, tugging at it.

"Are you alright, Naree?" Juliana asked her.

"Yes, I'm alright. Thank you, mother." Naree said.

Juliana sighed.

"You know I felt the same way you're feeling now when my father announced that I would be taking the throne after him." Juliana said.

Naree looked up at her mother, shocked.

"Really?" Naree asked.

Juliana smiled.

"Yes, really. I never expected to be Queen and I didn't understand why anyone wanted me to be Queen. I was nervous and scared. But now I understand why I chosen. I connected to the people in a way that anyone else in my family could. I was the modernization drive of the family stuck in the past." Juliana answered.

"How can I possibly be a queen? There's no way I can do all the amazing things you have done." Naree said.

The facade finally caved, and she began to cry.

Juliana was silent for several moments, then she pulled her into a hug and began to cry with her.

"Oh, Naree, You deserve this more than anybody... All of your life, you've been preparing for this. You are brave, smart, kind, and loyal. You'll make a perfect queen, Naree... There's no one else I'd rather have ruling after me." Juliana said.

"But..." Naree weakly protested. "H-How can I possibly..."

"Shhh... Trust me, I will be here to help you, Naree, the family will be here to support you. You will finally understand what it means to be the monarch of the United Kingdom just like I did, once you see the crowd cheering for you and praying that you have a long reign." Juliana said.

She thought about her words, and finally nodded, accepting what he had said.

Juliana sighed in relief, and stood up, extending her hand for her.

"Come on, then," Juliana told her. "It's time the people met their new queen." She added.

Naree quickly wiped her tears and looked at a nearby mirror to check if she looked presentable.

Juliana fixed her hair and smiled at daughter.

"Are you ready?" She asked.

Naree smiled.

"Yes, I am." Naree answered.

Hand in hand, the two pushed open the large doors leading to the balcony of Buckingham Palace, where all the citizens would be waiting.

A loud cheering filled her ears, and Naree observed the gigantic crowd in awe.

Juliana walked over to the mic and Naree waved to the crowd.

"Thank you all for gathering here today after the news thy was released this mid-morning. It has truly been a wonderful adventure being your Queen but it is now time for me to pass on the duties of being your queen to your wonderful Princess of Wales. I trust that you all will have the same faith in Naree, that you all have had in me. Although I may not longer be your queen, I will always do my service to the people until my last days. Please, give a round of applause to your new Queen, Queen Naree." Juliana said, clapping.

Naree smiled and walked over to the mic.

Taking a moment to look at her people, Naree felt thankful for everything that life had delivered to her.

Then she spoke into the mic.

"I pray that God gives me the wisdom and strength to carry out the promises that I am making to you all. Throughout this memorable day I have been uplifted and sustained by the knowledge that your thoughts and prayers are with me. Many thousands of you came to London from all parts of the Commonwealth and United Kingdom to join in the celebration, but also I am conscious of the millions of others who have shared in it by means of television in their homes. All of you, near or far, have been united in one purpose. To make sure you the people are heard. I thank you all for the support. I know I have big shoes to fill. I know with the help of you all and my family that I can always find the strength to make it happen. Throughout all my life and with all my heart I shall strive to be worthy of your trust. For the years I may, by God's Grace and Mercy, be given to reign and serve you as your Queen." Naree said, smiling.

"Long Live The Queen!" The crowd shouted in cheers.
