Cheryl's POV
This can't be happening. Not in my school. Not in the place that I'm in charge of. I can't believe that this is actually happening. SouthSide High has closed down, which only means one thing. Yep, you guessed it. The SouthSide scum are coming to Riverdale High. My school. Looks like I'll have to put them in their place. It's only fair, considering i'm the HBIC.I enlisted the help of Reggie purely because he was just as angered as I was. We were stood off to the side of the top of the stairs along with some other Vixens. Then we heard the door of the school open downstairs and through it, came them. The SouthSide monstrosities. Before I could even give them a second glance, I heard the tones of Veronica, welcoming them to the school. Not on my watch. "It's go time Reginald" I said to the boy next to me, watching as he mirrored the smirk I was also wearing.
"Stand down Eva Peron" I said, as we made our way down the stairs. Veronica turned to look at me and rolled her eyes, expecting nothing less of me. As I got closer, it gave me a moment to get a good look at the Serpents in front of me. My eyes were automatically drawn to the girl in the front. Damn, she was fucking hot. Wait. Did I, Cheryl Blossom, just think that a Serpent is hot? I found my eyes looking her swiftly looking her up and down, taking in her outfit. Veronica's voice snapped me out of the trance I was in, thank God. I hope no one noticed me staring at the girl and if they did, I would hope they would think I was staring at her out of disgust and anger rather than lust and infatuation.
"Cheryl, no one invited Fascist barbie to the party" Veronica said, with a look of anger on her face. I quickly hit back with "Wrong, Veronica. No one invited SouthSide scum to our school." I then went on to talk about Riverdale's above average GPA and basically ranting about how it will suffer with them in our school. But I was finding it hard to concentrate with a certain pair of eyes on me. The look of anger on her face sent a rush of heat straight to my core. Nevertheless, I continued with my verbal attack against the Serpents in front of me and after one particular line, the mysterious girl spoke up. "Why don't you come over here and say that to my face" she said, a slight growl and an overwhelming sense of fierceness in her voice. She took a few steps closer to where I was standing. The sound of her voice combined with her edging closer to me made me almost lose my composure. But i'm Cheryl Blossom, I couldn't let that happen.
"Happily Queen of the Buskers" I shot back, with a sarcastic smile on my face as I also challenged her by stepping a few inches closer. Before we could say anymore, Archie stepped in to take some moral high ground that i wasn't even listening to. All I could focus on was the girl who was in front of me, still wearing a frustrated expression on her pretty face. What was wrong with me? She's from the SouthSide. And she's a girl. I've always known I liked girls, especially because of Heather but no one has ever made me feel this way from almost doing nothing.
Our eyes never left each other, as Archie and now Veronica continued to speak about not letting our differences interfere. But I was drowning it out, their voices becoming a simple background noise to me, all muffled and faint. Because I could only concentrate on her. I don't know whether she was thinking the same about me. Her eyes were on me but I couldn't figure out whether that was because she was into me or because she simply hated me. I was thinking probably the latter.
We could have continued this little staring game we were playing all day but the SouthSiders were being pulled into tours of the school hosted by Veronica, Betty, Archie and Kevin. The mystery girl dragged her eyes away from me to look at Betty, her tour guide for the day.
"Hey! It's nice to meet you, my names Betty Cooper." Betty said, in her sweet and welcoming voice. Betty lifted her hand up for the girl to shake, which she accepted, bringing her own hand up to shake Betty's. "Hey I'm Toni. Toni Topaz." she said with a slight smile. Betty smiled back and they began their own conversation as they walked away together.
