We were so distracted by how things ended, we forgot how beautiful the beginning was.

Toni POV

It's crazy how you can go days or months without seeing or even talking to someone, but they still cross your mind everyday. They still consume your thoughts. I didn't think I could love someone that much.

Until Cheryl. I remember when I met her, it was so clear that she was the only one for me. We both seemed to know right away. I remember I practically fell in love the first time I looked at her. And I remember her smiling, because she knew.

Sometimes the best love story is when you fall in love with the most unexpected person at the most unexpected time.

There was something else 'unexpected' about our relationship. Let's go back in time to November 13th 2019.

"Baby! I have to go," I plead whilst giggling as my girlfriend's arms wrap tighter around my waist.

She shakes her head. "No. Stay for five more minutes," She whines, pulling her head away from my neck to peck my lips, although I knew it was just an excuse to persuade me to stay with those eyes of hers.

"You said that 10 minutes ago!" I laugh. "Baby I'm not gonna catch my flight at this rate."

"Perfect then," she hums and pulls me closer.

I give into her and we stay hugging for another couple minutes until eventually I pull away. She groans in protest.

"Cheryl I have to go now okay? I'll see in you two weeks babe don't worry," I promise, kissing her quickly and beginning to pick up my luggage.

"Fine," she huffs. "But send me pictures of the ski slopes and facetime me when you can."

"Of course I will," I say with a smile on my face.

I open the door to the house, pulling my suitcase with me.

"I love you," she says, leaning her body against the doorway with a sombre look in her eyes.

"I love you too," I reply, leaning forward to kiss her one last time.

And that was the last time I kissed her.

1 week into the ski trip

After another action filled day of continuing to explore the never ending resort with my family, I settled down on my bed in my room.

My brother and I were sharing a cabin whilst my parents were also sharing a cabin. It felt like heaven. The only thing missing was Cheryl.

I picked up my phone and clicked straight on her name, hoping she'd pick up the call.

I sighed as it became more and more likely she wasn't going to pick up with each ring.

I ended the call and hopped off my bed, ready to take a shower instead, until I heard my phone ring. I answer straight away, and her beautiful face filled my screen.

"Baby hi," I say, climbing onto my bed again.

"Hey TT, I miss you," She pouts. "How's it going?"

"It's going good babe. We had such a good day today, I just miss you." I admit, sighing.

I take in her appearance and she looks so beautiful, as always. She looks like she's just woken up from a nap, her hair all tousled. That's probably why she didn't answer the call the first time.
