Amoret.

When the sky hits twilight, we cleaned our mess in our area, unfolded the blanket and throw our garbage to the trash can. I was about to advance to the parking lot to go home, but Payton called me from behind.

He jogged forward first before saying, "We have some other places to go".

"In the park?", I asked, he nodded. I extended my hand to a dismissive wave, "We could just go there some time or tomorrow".

He shook his head and grinned, "It can't wait". He grabbed my hand straight away after, then run dragging me along with him. I called, asked and begged him to stop, he ran so fast that my knees are aching and giving up. Ugh, why do I have been blessed with short legs?

When he halted, I panted heavily while he merely did. I exaggeratedly hold my chest, feeling my heart throbbing with eight beats at once under my skin. When I manage to straight up, there I discovered that he landed us on the docks.

The part of the park where you can go fishing, contemplating, meditating and even yoga. The dock extended on the lake and ended a wide squared platform. I also swing by this place when me and my family visits the park. What differs from before is that there's LED string lights close to the end of the dock stretched out to the platform.

Their warm honey lights illuminated the whole night and the whole landscape that took my breath away. It sure looks the same on my favorite spot, but much better.

I took a step towards it, imagining those lights like fireflies flying around in the middle of the nightfall. It all melt my heart and cheered my face with a grin.

"Do you like it?"

My mind came back to reality that I have someone with me. I was so engulfed in what I'm seeing that I almost forget Payton was there.

I nodded and whirled my head around, "Eminently", then I smiled and he smiled back.

I proceeded my way to it, hearing the creaking sound on each of my steps. I paused when I reached the center of the platform and I sat on it by crossing my legs then I look heavenward.

Even though the dusk dims the sky and the light rested to the other side of the planet, there left the stars twinkling light years away from the world. I cannot ponder how nature was magnificently designed as I cannot understand its undeniable beauty.

The whole thing made me grin from ear to ear. Now, this is captivating.

"Thank you", I uttered out of nowhere, and turned my head to Payton whom I found sitting beside me wandering his eyes to the sky then, met mine.

His lips slowly morphs into a grin, spoke nothing but his eyes said every word I needed to hear, to feel.

I halted.

Drowned with the thought, I halted.

Inside, I let myself swam from disaster, from drowning. I gulped, diverting from his eyes but getting hysterical on the inside. Recalling all the troubles I had, the heartbreak, all of it. I don't want to go there ever again.

Amoret, he's a friend. Not someone to flirt with! Get your senses back!

And this time, I didn't argued with my inner voice.

"It's getting late", I managed to say, standing up.

Confused, Payton followed and wipe off the dirt from his pants, I did so too on my skirt. Afterwards I begin treading my way to the parking lot and I didn't mind if he trail along. Perhaps it's better this way.
