"Mamihlapinatapai: a look shared by two people, each wishing that the other one would initiate something they both desire but which neither wants to begin."
Y/n's POV:
"Amanda you can't be serious!" Griggs hissed loudly, looking through the small window on the steel door to see Harley sitting in her cage in the corner, "You're going to let her out of the cage?"
"Which happens to be in a room with thick walls reinforced with steel. There will be men guarding outside the door.
I drowned out the rest of their conversation, looking at Harley to see her looking at me. At least, I think she was. The glass was a little foggy and smudged.
"Dr!" Amanda yelled and I zoned back in, giving her my full attention.
"Mhm?"
"You can handle it from here?"
I nodded firmly, and once she was good with my answer, walked away.
"Right when the session is over she goes back in her cage." Griggs grumbled sourly, standing guard with another one of his team members. I nodded loosely, scanning my key card and the door clicked open.
The clicks of my shoes echoed off the walls before I sat down in the chair in the center of the room. I looked at the security camera on the room and nodded my head, Harley perking up when the lock on her cell door went off.
"What did you just do?" Harley asked standing to her feet.
"Gave you your freedom." I shrugged.
"But I'm not free. Not really."
"You can be." I told her softly, "I can help you."
Harley scoffed, "Only puddin can help me."
"Harley, you have Schizophrenia. That's why you hear the voices in your head.. I think Joker is just something you made up in your mind. He's not real."
Harley's POV:
He's not real? He's not real. He's not real. He's not r- what if y/n isn't real? No, she is real! She's right in front of me! Am I crazy? Am I going crazy?!
"Shut up!"
"Shut up!" I laughed loudly, y/n staring adorably at me with those eyes I loved so much. Y/n giggled cutely and my heart swooned.
"Okay what about this one," she sank her teeth into her bottom lip to stifle the rest of her laughter so she could tell the joke, "What is the downside to eating a clock?"
I giggled, "I don't know."
"It's time consuming." Y/n burst out into a fit of laughter, proud of herself for telling the joke. I couldn't help but laugh along with her, no matter or stupid the joke was, if it made her laugh then it made me happy.
It was rare to see her in such a good mood, to be this carefree. I know life was hard for her, that she was always going to struggle with things like this. But I was here now and I wasn't going to leave.
"That is so dumb." I snorted, sighing softly as I pushed a strand of her hair away from her eyes, my hand resting on her cheek.
Y/n leaned in and kissed my lips softly, almost too quickly for my liking, "I love you."
My breath hitched in my throat as I pushed open my cell door, stalking towards y/n like a predator. I pushed away her notebook she had on the small desk, hearing the pages clatter to the floor.
The psychiatrist peered up at me with full confusion in her eyes, but there was something so innocent and raw that was hidden under the color of her iris.
I hummed, a smirk delicately tugging at my lips as I straddled her lap. Y/n cleared her throat, her breath hitching when I grabbed the pencil that was tucked behind her ear, and sliding it behind mine.
"Let's switch roles, dr."
"Ms. Quinzel, this is a professional environment." Y/n exhaled shakily.
"Then why aren't you pushing me off then?" I wrapped my arms around her neck, slowly bucking my hips into hers.
I clicked my tongue against the roof of my mouth when she tried to push me off her, "Don't. Do you want to touch me? Because you can."
A giggle bubbled past my lips while I slowly placed her hands on my hips.
"I made a deal so that you and I can have some peace while we talk and so that you can have some freedom. There's guards outside the door, so we aren't as alone as you think."
Y/n's POV:
I stiffened when her lips ghosted over mine slowly and sensually, like she was planning on drawing it out as long as she could.
"There's something about being caught that turns me on." Harley husked and my fingers dug into her hips when she began moving against me again.
"If we get caught I won't be able to see you again." I quickly covered up my groan with a cough.
"You're no fun." Harley jutted out her plump bottom lip onto a pout.
Harley went to lean in when I heard the door unlock. I pushed Harley off me and her body fell to the floor just in time for Griggs and his men to walk in.
"Finally." I huffed, standing to my feet, "I've been calling you guys for ages."
Harley whimpered when one of the guards kicked her in the stomach. My heart fell heavy with guilt as the guards started beating her.
Harley caught one woman's foot and made her lose her balance. When the woman fell, Harley grabbed the boot knife and stabbed her in the meat of her thigh. I winced, frozen in my spot when she charged for me.
The platinum blonde pinned me up against the wall, a fire in her steel blue eyes while her chest was pressed against mine. There was a sadistic grin ghosting her lips as the blood trickled down her nose, her lip and her forehead.
"You're gonna go insane like me, sugar!" Harley bit the air like a dog when the guards dragged her back into her cage, the knife clattering out of her grasp.
Griggs glared at me while he wiped the blood from his nose with the back of his hand, pointing one of his meaty fingers at me, "Next time, we're not listening to you."
