Chapter 18- Keefe

Everyone was occupied with their families and I was standing around awkwardly. As usual. I think I might have imagined it though, what happened next. First, Tam stopped his conversation with the Black Swan people when he saw me, and waved me over to join I just declined and sat on the bench. Everyone was looking at me apologetically. Everyone went back tot heir conversations. A few moments later, I felt a hand on my shoulder. I look up to see Grady.

"Keefe, I used to think that you were a bad influence for Sophie, and of course, I still do. But, I see how much you care for her, so I'm happy you're going to be part of the family." Grady smile, then patted my back. 

"T-thank you." I reply, still in shock.

"Why don't you join us?" He asks. 

We eat, all of us catching up. Everyone finishes, and I realise a lot of people are shooting me glances. Now was definitely not the right time for this.Grady came to my rescue. Cleared his throat.

"Can I just say, I'm extremely proud of the people you have all become. Even you Keefe. I'm glad to have you as part of the family." He winked at me at the last part. Sophie looked happy, but a little confused.

"What do you mean by that....." She trailed off when she turned back to see me on one knee. A tear trickled down her cheek.

"Sophie Elizabeth Foster, ever since I saw you in the hallway for the first time, I knew I would always love you. I know we're still young, but I know I'll always love you. Foster, will you marry me?" She is full on crying now.

"Yes!" She shouts. Everyone else is cheering,-Biana being the loudest for sure-but all I see is Sophie, as I wrap my arms around her and kiss her, right after I place the ring on her finger. 

"I love you, Sophie." I whisper in her ear.

"And I love you, Keefe." She whispers back.
