Jacob's high temperature made my heart drop for the hundredth time that week. I wasn't proud of the fact that beneath my concern and worry for my little brother, I held some deep anger for him.

In fact, I was furious with the only two guys in my life because they weren't responsible enough to tell me the truth before they left for practice on Sunday.

Instead of finding out about Jacob's hidden condition the easy way, I had to see him fighting for air on the freaking soccer field because his body was too weak and couldn't take the hard work anymore longer.

"How are you feeling?"

"I am feeling fine, Landler, stop with your unnecessary investigations please," my favorite human rolled his eyes at me rudely, then moved down his gaze to a folded piece of paper he tightly held.

"Once your temperature is low enough, and your fever is completely gone, I will stop being so nice," I promised him, making sure to look him in the eyes. But the little monster didn't seem to care about my warning and the intense eye contact. Instead, he looked hypnotized by the little piece of paper.

"Can you call Noah for me?" he pressed the paper against his chest, keeping the precious thing safe from any external dangers.

Speaking of Noah, he didn't disappear on Monday like he always tends to. He took care of Jacob when the lack of sleep started to affect me, and I couldn't keep my eyes open. And for some odd reason, whenever I woke up from my beauty sleep, the two of them were always surrounded by papers and pencils.

"Of course," I answered Jacob and walked out of the room, ignoring my fast heartbeats.

I reached the living room to see Noah sitting on the famous black couch, playing none other than video games. While standing next to the couch, waiting patiently for him to talk to me, I felt exhausted.

Here he goes again with his stupid mood swings.

Unfortunately for him, the fact that he didn't even glance my way forced me to forget about Jacob's request and face him and his lovely personality.

"I spoke with Ms.Brown a few days ago."

"I am happy for you," he said sarcastically, not for once moving his gaze from the tv to my irritated self. The player on the screen entered an abandoned building, placed in the middle on nowhere.

"She said you should show up more often, because, you know, we have a freaking project to finish."

Inside the building, you could clearly see a big mess. Items of furniture were destroyed or unarranged. Broken pieces of glass were all over the dusty floor, waiting for their prey, threatening to make him feel the sharp pain they are able to cause.

"I already told you not to worry about it, about anything. What the fuck do I need to do to make you trust me on that one?"

"Trust is a big word."

The player, controlled by Noah's large hands, began to wander around the creepy building.

"Annoying is also a big word, but you don't seem to care," he sounded bored out of his mind.

"I just think that we should work on it together, as a normal pair of friends."

All of a sudden, the lights were out in the building. The darkness started to spread throughout the imaginary world of the video game.

"We are not friends, and we will never be," he promised, not taking his eyes off the tv, trying to search for the light and get his player out of the unknown.
