"Mom, I'm fine!" Olivia croaked out from where she laid on the couch in the living room.
"Liv, you aren't fine! You have a fever and can barely talk! You are sick, so I'm going to just stay home and take care of you." Serena replied as she unplugged her phone from its charger before going to send a text to the two couples she was going to be having dinner and drinks with tonight.
"Please just go! I'll be fine, and if I need anything I can always call Alex or Casey. Alex can drive me over some soup or something." Olivia said with a forced smile, but Serena just shook her head as she dialed Daisy Novak's number so she could cancel tonight.
By the time Serena was done canceling her dinner, she went back out into the living room and sat on the edge of the coffee table and looked at her daughter.
"Mom, you should really go. You haven't been able to get out and have drinks in awhile. Please, Mom." Olivia frowned. She hated to be sick and to have her mother cancel her one night out she has planned because she needs to stay home and take care of her.
"Olivia, you are more important than having a few drinks and eating a steak that is way too expensive. I can open a bottle of wine and eat soup with you." Serena smiled, before leaning close and pressing a soft kiss to her daughter's hot forehead.
"I love you, Mom... thanks for staying home with me," Olivia whispered, and Serena nodded.
"Anytime, little one," Serena spoke, before pulling the blanket up on her daughter and tucking it in under her chin.

After Serena made her daughter soup and almost had to force-feed her it, they fell asleep on the couch together. But when they woke up, everything was different.
"What happened?" Olivia yawned, as she pulled the blanket from her mother and bundled herself up underneath it.
"Looks like a car accident. It should be cleaned up by tomorrow so I can take you to the doctor if you aren't feeling better." Serena spoke. She went to lean over and kiss her daughter's temple, but stopped when four names were spoken.
"We were just informed that the victims of the crash with an eighteen-wheeler were Jack and Daisy Novak, along with Gary and Dina Cabot. The victims are being taken to New York Memorial and we will update you on their conditions once more is found out." The newscaster spoke. Olivia quickly turned and looked at her mother as tears slipped down her cheeks.
"Mom." She croaked out.
"I'm going to make some calls. Okay? Just don't freak out. They might be okay." Serena spoke, as her voice shook. She stood and quickly went to find her phone, as Olivia pulled out hers.
She quickly checked her messages but she didn't have any. She stood slowly and went into the kitchen with the blanket dragging across the floor.
"Should I call them? Or text them?" Olivia whispered as she saw her mother looking down at her phone.
"Liv." Serena breathed, and Olivia eyed her for a moment.
"Are they dead?" Olivia whispered, and Serena frowned deeply.
"I just got a call from the hospital. I'm their emergency contact since I live in the city and-"
"What's going to happen to Alex and Casey?!" Olivia cried as her voice cracked.
"Liv, we just need to relax. I know that this is really hard, but baby we have to stay calm for the girls. Let's get dressed and then we can go up there and see what we can do." Serena spoke. Olivia nodded slowly as she breathed the tears from her cheeks.
