"You two are dressed and up early," Serena spoke, as her daughter and the girls walked downstairs together on the first of December.

"We are going to school today," Alex spoke softly, as she sat her backpack down by the fireplace.

"Really? You two are going to be off for Christmas break before you know it." Serena spoke.

"We have to get all of our homework along with exam prep worksheets. And Mr. Gaines said that even if we are allowed to take all the time we want... that they miss us."

"We all do miss you at school. I'm just lucky because I can see you two every day." Olivia smiled, before moving into the kitchen to grab breakfast.

"Are you two sure?" Serena asked, and the girls nodded.

"We need to get back to school. If we don't go today, we never will." Casey admitted softly.

"Well, if you two need anything at all today, just call me. I'll be there as quick as I can. Okay? I promise-"

"Thank you, Ms. Benson. But we both hope that we can make it through the day without a problem. And Liv is going to be there for us."

"I'll always be there for you two. You cannot get rid of me." Olivia smiled, before shoving part of her breakfast bar into her mouth. She walked over and hugged her mother before moving and grabbing her car keys.

"Make sure you three are safe! It's icy out!" Serena exclaimed as Casey and Alex followed Olivia from the house.

They arrived at the high school earlier than the rest of the students. The school had just been unlocked, so no one but teachers and other staff members were there.

"So let's go to our lockers and then we should probably go and talk to Mr. Gaines." Olivia spoke, as she looped her arms through her friends'.

"I don't wanna talk to him... All he is going to say is that he is sorry for what we went through and that he and everyone else is here for us. It's the exact same thing your mom told us, but this time it won't be completely true. There are people in this school that hate us and are probably glad we are orphans." Alex huffed.

"Can I ask you two something?" Olivia asked as she and Alex stopped at their lockers. Casey's was further down the line, but she didn't move to her locker and didn't plan on it until her friends went with her.

"Depends on what it is." Alex sighed.

"Do you guys want to be my sisters?" Olivia questioned, as she opened her locker and looked over the door that was covered with tons of pictures of her and her best friends.

"What?" Casey mused.

"Well, what if you two stay with us for the rest of high school? And into college? Don't you think at one point you two might want to be adopted?" Olivia questioned.

"Getting adopted is a huge deal, Liv. I just don't know if either of us will ever be ready for that. We would have to give up our last names. Can't we just keep being what we are? Best friends?" Casey sighed. Olivia frowned before nodding.

"Of course we can keep being best friends... I just didn't know if you two ever wanted to be more than just my best friends..."

"We are sisters. Even if we don't share a last name or have the same parents." Alex grumbled, before shutting her locker door loudly. She walked past Olivia and grabbed Casey's arm before leading her down to her locker.

"Doesn't sound like we are sisters."

Alex and Casey had their before lunch classes together, which was good. They had each other to lean on and to avoid the stares from their classmates and teachers. At lunch, however, they didn't really have a chance to ignore the looks since everyone was eating lunch and managed to find them.
