Best of Both Worlds (m)

Give me the smell of wet grass and hose water,
Slicked back hair and soaked beach towels,
With the freedom of driving.

I want the friends I had in middle school,
More importantly the ones who passed,
With the adventures of summer before college.

I need the energy and time,
With the "yes" from my parents,
That is only given since I'm leaving.

The time in middle school,
Where it felt like forever,
To replace the countdown of days,
Until they leave me.

Take me back to my youth,
With the lessons I have from today,
To fix the past,
And not compromise the mental health of my future.

I want the past and the present,
Mixed together as one,
The best of both worlds,
Before this chapter is officially done.
