Chapter Seventeen: The Last Dance: Skylark
Skylark had just seen Nicolas talking to a guy that seemed familiar and that was dancing with Elizabeth. Skylark was going to let it go but then saw how conflicted and distress Elizabeth looked and went to help her but as she was walking toward them the guy and Elizabeth dance away from Nicolas leaving his confuse and angry. Skylark was just going to ask him what happened but saw that a girl walked asked Nicolas something and he gave her a smile and began dancing with the girl making the girl giggle. A strange feeling ran through Skylark making her glare at the girl who had her arms around Nicolas.
Nicolas noticing someone looking at him looked toward Skylark and saw her glaring at the girl in his arms causing him to chuckle at her childish jealousy and winked at Skylark making her gaped at him fuming thinking that he danced with the girl on purpose to make her jealous but reality was that Nicolas didn't care for any other woman than for Elizabeth and Skylark. He knew that he was being selfish but couldn't help but to want them both that's why when Nicolas saw Elizabeth in his older brothers arms Nicolas couldn't help but feel jealousy running through his veins and wanted nothing more than to take Elizabeth of his arms and beat his brother up for touching what was his. Nicolas shook his head trying to clear it. He knew that he was being unfair and rude with his older brother acting that way towards him but Nicolas couldn't help it. Nicolas knew he should clear things up with his brother and tell his brother he is sorry before his brother thinks that Nicolas hated him, but decided against it.
When the song was done Nicolas head towards Skylark but now she was dancing a song with a guy. Timed past and although Nicolas wanted to dance with Skylark and Skylark wanted to dance with Nicolas something always happened preventing them from dancing with each other. Soon the ball was about to be done and the clock had already struck midnight. Many people were still chatting, laughing, dancing and the party was lively. Elizabeth danced only with Onyx but later on retire to her bedroom feeling sick and unable to continue to dance no matter how much she wanted.
Onyx retired also and helped Elizabeth walk to her bedroom then he walked to the garden to clear his head. Carrie was talking with Harvey having a good time with him while Jonathan and Katherine looked at them angrily the way they were getting too close to their liking but didn't comment and head toward their chambers but when they saw each other they decided to let their anger out by fucking each other. Katherine felt remorse after it but Jonathan just fucked Katherine then left her like most whores.
The ball was going to soon be done and it was going to be the last dance. Nicolas pushed through people looking for Skylark only to find her at the punch ball chatting with a guy
"Will you dance with me this last dance?" Nicolas asked Skylark but grabbed her by her hand and pulled her to the middle of the dance floor. Soon they were dancing to the rhythm, people around them notice the prince dancing with the princess and stopped to watch in awed as they fluently swept across the dance floor without missing a step.
"I didn't know you were an excellent dancer," Skylark told Nicolas not noticing the people around them
"There is a lot of stuff that you don't know about me" Nicolas reply as he twirled her around
Skylark let out a laugh filled with happiness, she suddenly didn't care about no one. All she wanted to do was be with Nicolas forever. Skylark knew the only person standing in the way of her happiness was herself. Elizabeth had already given her blessing and many times hinted that she loved Nicolas like a brother she never had before. Elizabeth also told Skylark about the stranger in the garden which by the description that Elizabeth gave her, Skylark could guess that Onyx was the mysterious handsome stranger. The stranger that by a glance made Elizabeth fall in love with him but knew it was forbidden cause of her sickness. Nicolas pulled her out of her daze as he leaned down and kiss Skylark softly and gently as a feather. Skylark let out a sigh and kiss him back passionately not wanting to forget about this day no matter what happened. The kiss was soon turning passionately when people started clapping and they realize that they were the main attraction.
