A hot summer day I was building my house nearby the barn. It was going to take awhile because I was using my barehands. I don't have a job and can't afford to buy tools so my hands are rough and callused.

When I was working on my house, I got easily distracted when this man came over to me. He took off his hat when I realized that is was Beckett Abner.

"Howdy Abner! Why are you all the way over here when you were there?" I asked.

"I got fired as well. I apparently forgot to feed the cows their midnight snack and look where that has gotten me. Sittin' on a log like a frog."  Said Abner. I knew what he was talking about, he had nothing just like me. "I be looking like a frog as well, rough skin, smelly, reeking like a duck pond."

I laughed as he compared himself to a frog. And I knew what he was talking about, he had nothing just like me, we were both frogs sitting on a log. "Well, I guess you can stay with me, we can be old frogs together." I say, chuckling a bit.

"Really!? You mean it." Abner exclaimed.

"I meant it, now take the offer before it's gone." I say. At that moment we shook hands. I then showed him the old barn and the new house I was building.

"You got one mighty fine place!" Said Abner.

"Thanks!" I exclaimed.

Evening arrived and I cooked some snake by the fire. I didn't have no job neither money, but Abner didn't care, as long as there was food and a shabby place to live.

"So Jon, you gotta job yet?" Abner asked.

"Not yet, but soon. Hopefully." I say. "But it will be a miracle. It's it gonna be rough since everything is changing."

"Well me and you both Jon..." Abner agreed.

After a while of chatting around the fire, roasting snakes I told Abner that living here would mean putting some work in, so like helping me finish the house. The house was almost built about another week instead of two. Two men is better than one.

"Sure, I would be glad to help with your house and your barn. We will have it done sometime this week... and that is a promise." Said Abner.

I led Abner to the barn when I realized that it was getting late and we needed a goodnight sleep if we were gonna wake up early the next morning and work our butts off.

"Abner, this is the barn. I'm sorry if it's not homey or cozy, but it's all we got for now, so decide on what hay stack you wanna sleep on." I say.

"Thanks man, your so kind to let me stay with you. And I thank you for the hospitality." Said Abner.

"Oh, no one talks like that! Shut your mouth and hit the hay, we got a big day ahead of us." I say, hitting the ground and immediately closing my eyelids shut.
