Night fell and I was about to fall asleep when anxiety hit me and I began to worry about my future. Abner already knows what's going for him. He found himself a girl who is giving him a job. She didn't mention it but he is going to probably get it once their married. He might has well start a family after the marriage. Then there is me. A lonely man and wild donkey. My broken old barn and new wood house who I share with. And no occupation.

I slept on all the things I needed in life at the moment and prayed before. Praying for the need of a job that would benefit me and my needs. Something I'm good at and will love. Then I thought about going back and pleading for the old miserable job. But why would Travis Lee hire me again?

At dawn I woke up, and out of the corner of my eye, I saw a juicy and crunchy palmetto bug. It looked like good breakfast. I grabbed that sucker before it ran off and stabbed it with my knife. I started a small fire and roasted the roach pulling off its Antennas and shoving them into my mouth. Delicious.

The antennas were good along with the crunchy hairy legs. Every sound with a crunch and slurp. I wasn't gonna share with Abner, he can kill his own roach.

After every last bite, I ate the wings, I licked and smacked my lips, then putting my finger in my mouth trying to get the bug guts out of the cracks of my teeth.

After breakfast I got up and decided that I needed a break day. I went down the dirt road along the wooden fences looking at the cows.

I leaned against the fence standing under the shade of a tree. I looked up with both my hands Intertwined, I bowed my head and closed my eyes and began to pray.

"Dear Lord, I thank you for what I'm blessed with at the moment. For that property and a best friend and never wished for more. But today I pray for a better life, perhaps a job. The job would stand for a new opportunity for not just me but Abner as well. Please god. And in your name, Amen."

I opened my eyes and looked at the world around. The fields of green and the nearby barns and houses with horses and cows gnawing at the grass. The flies flying around the poop patties.

The morning to myself was quiet until it was interrupted by some stranger who came up to me.

"Howdy, my name is Rodney Ridens and I saw you over here and was wondering if you would like a job."

"Yes please sir." I say trying not to sound so desperate.

"I live over here on the farm, and I really could ise some help. I need a man like you, strong and willing to work." Said Rodney.

"I'd be willing to work for you." I reply.

"Good, now come along." Said Rodney signally me go follow. Before I did though, I looked up and thanked the heavens.
