I sat at the table just staring at the spaghetti. "What's wrong?" She asks as I push the spaghetti around the plate. I shrug and push the plate away saying "thanks for everything I better get going home." I start crying knowing my only home is the streets. "What's wrong hun?" She asks with a worried tone. "Nnnothing." I reply in between sobs. "What's your name hun?" She asks while wrapping me in a hug. I immediately relax. "Kacy." I reply trying not to regress. "Let's go sit on the couch and talk." She says as she gently takes my hand. I follow and once we get to the couch I slip into little headspace and start to play with my feet. "What are you doing kacy?" She says curiously. "Nufing jwus pwaying wif my fweets." I say. Her eyes light up and she says "are you a little hun?" I nod "chu mwy mwummy now?" I ask innocently. "Well if you want me to be sweetheart." She says while tearing up. I clap and lay my head in her lap. "I lub chu mwummy." I say finally feeling safe.
I wake up in a strange bed in a strange place when I remember last night. I slowly get out of the bed and open the door. "Hhhhannah?" I cautiously call out. I hear footsteps running up the stairs. "Hey your up how did you sleep?" She asks. I shrug "I should get going and get out of your way." I say grabbing my jacket. "No no your fine let me drive you home at least." She replies. "No don't trouble yourself." I reply while shrugging my jacket on. "Can I at least have your phone number so if you ever need help you can call me?" She says with a look of sorrow. "NO NO YOU CAN'T I'M HOMELESS OKAY!" I yell as I run out the door crying. I run until I can't catch my breath and I walk between two buildings and sink down to the ground and cower in the corner crying.
I must have fallen asleep because I woke to someone gently shaking me. I look up to see Hannah and to realize it's dark. I look down ashamed of myself and how I treated her when she was just trying to help. "Hey it's ok I'm sorry." She says as she sits down next to me "let's go back to my house and you can live with me and tomorrow we can go shopping to get you clothes and shoes." She says lovingly. I nod and pull $22.34 out of my wallet "I'm sorry it's all I have." I say. "No no you keep this." She says. "No I insist." I say as I put it in her purse. "Can we make one stop before we go to your house?" I timidly ask. "Of course just tell me where." She says as she helps me up. "Fire bridge stables please." I say.
