Chapter 11

Tide

I ignored the pain in my heart, and unleashed a ball of flame in the gryphon's face. I raised Riptide, and slashed at a gorgon. It crumbled to dust. I jumped up, put my legs together, and hit another gorgon square in the face, then I did a back-flip, and landed back on the pole, completely unharmed.

I was unharmed, but the pain increased, my vision started to get fuzzy. I shook my head, shaking out the fuzziness. I saw the Minotaur coming this way. It was as tall as the pole. Closer, and closer it came. I raised Riptide, and in one stroke, cut off its head.

Adding the pain I was feeling in my heart, it felt like a was fighting for eternity. I cut, slashed, stabbed, punched, and kicked until all the monsters crumbled to dust. I jumped down on to the ground, made the barrier disappear, and walked back to Nico.

"What's my time?" I asked.

He stared at me with his mouth open, I looked at the others, they had similar expressions.

"What? Did I do something wrong?" I asked.

"Y-you finished 3,000 monsters in less than 5 minutes." Thalia said incredulously.

The others nodded.

" Yes! I beat my record by 2 minutes. Yes!" I shouted.

"How did you do that?" Luke asked. " I was stronger than you, but now I can't even compare to your strength." I smiled at that.

"Thanks, now who's turn is it now?"  I asked.

"I'll go," Ethan volunteered.

"Okay, I'll put up the barrier, and summon easier monsters since this is your first time, then it's Luke's turn, then Bianca, after that you three get some rest, and the three of us will train," Motioning to Thalia, and Nico, and I." Since we're on higher levels then you three, okay?" I told them.

"Fine with me," they all said.

After Ethan got on top of the pole, I summoned the barrier, and the monsters, but I made sure they were the easily defeated ones, and I didn't summon as much only about 300 or so."Ready?" I asked him.

"Ready as I'll ever be," I heard him shout.

"Okay, beginning now!"

I watched him fight the monsters. His fighting was the same as the last time I fought with him. His fighting was a little off, and not as powerful as mine. If he couldn't defeat these low level monsters then I would have to train him hard. I saw him get a cut in his stomach, he almost fell off the pole, but balanced back on just in time. I heard Bianca gasp as a gryphon cut his cheek.

"It's okay, he'll be fine," I soothed her. She nodded. After about 9 minutes, all the monsters disappeared, and all we could see was an out of breath Ethan Nakamura. I rushed forward, taking the barrier down. I floated to the top of the pole, and stayed beside him.

"You okay?" I asked him.  He nodded, panting. I put him on my back, and floated down, and carried him to the others. "He's okay, just tired."

I summoned two skeletons, and told them to carry Ethan to the infirmary, and treat. They nodded, and disappeared along with Ethan. I turned to Nico.

"How long did he take?"

"About 9 minutes or 10," he replied.

" He did good for his first try, considering that he was up against 300 monsters, " I said. " Okay, Luke, your turn."

Once again I summoned the monsters, and told him to begin. I summoned more monsters for Luke since he had more experience. 500 monsters will do. Slashing, hacking, cutting, and punching, and kicking. Then I saw something that shocked me. The Minotaur came towards him.

"What? How did the Minotaur  get here, I didn't summon him!" I shouted taking down the barrier, and flying towards the Minotaur. I couldn't let Luke fight the Minotaur. After I killed him a second time who knows how angry he could be. Luke turned towards the Minotaur, and his eyes widened, he raised him weapon up, getting ready to hit the Minotaur. I could sense that the Minotaur was stronger now.

"Luke! Don't fight it. Focus on the other monsters!" I shouted at him. He nodded, and carefully turned himself around just in time to avoid being skewered by a gorgon. I focused my attention back on the Minotaur. I had a murderous look in my eye, and the Minotaur must have seen it too because it instantly regretted going this way.

"Now, what are you up to Beef Boy?" I asked with an amused smile on my face.

It roared, and charged me. I raised Riptide, and once again I felt a pain in my heart, and once again I ignored it. The Minotaur was definitely stronger because when i made a very deep cut in it stomach the Minotaur just got back up like it was nothing, and I swear the cut was at LEAST 5 inches deep.

I cut, and cut, and the Minotaur kept getting up, yep, definitely stronger. With each stroke I did to the Minotaur, it weakened, and with stroke, I weakened myself even worse.  The damage I was doing to myself was probably worse than the damage I was doing to the beast before me.

When i finally defeated the dang thing, I was exhausted, and the pain increased.

"Why does it hurt so much," I said to myself. Then I remembered. Father told me not to over exhaust myself so did Thalia.

"I'm in trouble,“ I said to myself once again. I turned around, and saw that Luke already defeated the other monsters, and that Nico already sent him to the infirmary to be checked. I looked Thalia in the eye, and I could see that she was concerned. I flew towards them, but since I was so tired I couldn't fly for long so I just walked the rest of the way.

"Are you okay?" Thalia asked. Of course it was her.

"You know what happens when you over exhaust yourself," Nico said.

"I'm fine, really. Okay, Bianca I don't want to risk the Minotaur coming back, or some other monster that hold a grudge against me, so we'll continue this tomorrow, sound good?"

She nodded.

"Okay, go back inside, the three of us will stay out here, and discuss something, go back inside, and see if Ethan, and Luke are okay," I told her.

"Of course, Lord Tide," she said, and bowed. " Lady Light, Lord Shadow, I bid thee farewell for now," she said, and bowed to them before she turned, and went into the palace.

Bianca can be formal, and informal whenever she wants to. I looked away from Bianca's retreating back, and turned to look at Nico.

"So, what do we have to discuss?" I pretty sure I have a good idea though.

"You're not okay are you?" Thalia asked. I reluctantly shook my head.

" I told you, Perseus, that you can't exhaust yourself, your body won't be able to take it!" Thalia said.

"I'm sorry, but I can't stand being helpless, and having people looking after me!" I told her."To many people have gotten hurt because of me, I have to be able to protect those that are still alive."

" I understand you don't want peopple to get hurt because of you, but you must take care of yourself too," Nico said.

Another stab of pain. Vision blackening. Feeling lightheaded. Hearing muffled voices that sound like Nico, and Thalia.........................Not hearing, or seeing anything at all.
