*Dixie's POV*

"Get your men under control!" Matt yelled in the locker room. Kelly shouted back, "They are, Captain!" (I know, this sort of is the month after Darden died but I just wanted to make Matt captain.)

I couldn't stand it anymore, so I stood up from the Truck table and walked into the locker room and saw Matt lunging at Kelly. I stood in between them and said, "Stop it! We're all dealing with the loss of Darden. He was one hell of a firefighter. But if you can't get your shit together, Boden's gonna' do something and I know both of you don't wanna' get fired, so I repeat once more, get your shit together!"

"Dixie, don't get involved." Matt snarled.

"Stop this at once. This is not you. Neither is it you, Kels. You are both good friends, so just chill it." I repeated and Kelly stormed out. I sat down beside Matt on his bed when we returned to his office.

"What's wrong?"

"Besides Darden's one-month?"

"Yes, Matt, you know what I mean." I sighed.

"I told Hallie that I wanted to start a family but she said she isn't ready." Matt told me and sighed. I felt a pang in my heart. I had been falling for Matt, and falling hard but when he told me that he was getting married, I hit rock bottom.

"Talk it out. And tonight, when shift ends, you and Severide are making up. I can't stand this tension anymore." I told Matt firmly and left to the bathrooms where I knew Kelly would be because he was walking towards the toilet just now.

I pushed open Kelly's stall door and saw him injecting himself. I sighed, "Kelly, you really should get your shoulder checked out. You can't keep surviving on the painkillers Brett gives you. Someone's gonna' find out."

"It'll ruin my career, Dix."

"I know, Kels, but I'm worried about you. Come on, there's food outside." I dragged him outside and saw Matt dishing out the food he had finished cooking. When Kelly saw that, he had a frown on his face, grabbed an orange and left. I scowled and wanted to run after him but Matt stopped me.

"That kid." Mouch sighed. We were about to eat when an announcement rang out, "Smoke eater in the house!" We saw Herrmann hobbling in. Mouch eyed Mills who rushed to get a chair but Herrmann refused, walked around and exclaimed, "I'm healed! I'm healed! it must of been living with my damn in-laws that was breaking me down!"

Otis began play-fighting Herrmann who protested, "Okay, okay, I'm not that healed yet!" We laughed as we ate together. After food, Mills washed the dishes and I went outside to find Severide who was smoking a cigar.

"Kelly Severide!" I shouted and ran towards him. He laughed as I stopped and sat down on the curb next to him. Instinctively, I leaned my head on his shoulder, he winced a little but stopped after a while.

"Meet me at my apartment at 6:00 p.m.. We're watching a Blackhawks game." I told Kelly firmly and waited for shift to end at 8:00 a.m.. After shift ended, I walked outside to my black Porsche Cayenne and drove off.

When I reached the apartment complex I lived in, I walked up to my door, unlocked the door and went in. I did the laundry after a shower where I changed into a gray sweater, white t-shirt and black leggings.

When the time came, Kelly rang the doorbell and I let him in. I grabbed a six-pack of beer and told Kelly to follow me. When we reached Matt's apartment complex, I could see that Kelly was regretting.

"You sly little..."

"Don't finish that sentence, Kels, you know you love me!" I teased, then wrapped a blindfold on him and led him up after locking my car and grabbing the beer and my purse. When we reached Matt's apartment door, I used my key to unlocked the door and went in after shouting, "Matt! It's me!" I closed the door behind me, locking it.

"Hey, Dix...and Kelly." Matt looked happy at first but his eyes narrowed to Kelly.

"Dixie, what are you doing?" Kelly asked sternly as I ripped off his blindfold. The two were almost at loggerheads immediately. I pushed them apart and begged, "Please guys, get your fucking shit together! I can't have two of my best friends fighting!"

"He let Darden go in before the scene was ready!" Kelly shouted, pointing at Matt.

"Kelly, none of us wanted this, okay?" I shouted, Kelly finally stepping back as Matt opened a can of beer and sat down on his sofa, sighing. When the doorbell rang, Kelly got it and paid. We all sat down on the sofa, with me in the middle. Our beer cans were on coasters on the coffee table; the two medium pizzas on the coffee table too.

After the game and a few episodes of some Netflix show, it was 9:00 p.m.. I was getting a little tired so I leaned on Matt's chest, Kelly holding one of my hands and rubbing small circles on them.

Suddenly, the doorbell rang and Kelly went to get it, revealing Hallie standing in the doorway with a bag of things. She frowned, then came in. I sat up properly and got off the sofa, leaving to the guest bedroom with Kelly to give Matt and Hallie some privacy.

After half an hour, I heard some sobs, muttering and the door slamming. I wanted to tell Kelly that we could go out but the big goon was already snoring, sleeping peacefully so I let him be. I walked out, saw a glittering diamond ring on the table and Matt crying with his face in his hands. I sighed, then sat down beside him and put my arms around him.

At that point, actions spoke much louder than words.

So, what did you think of the first chapter of My Firefighter? I really didn't decide if Stellaride should come in earlier or not. Your thoughts?
