*Dixie's POV*
"Your ex?" Matt asked, confirming.
"We were 16 and dumb, Matt. We had a horribly messy breakup. There was a lot of fighting and crying." I groaned. Matt gave a little sad scoff-laugh. Matt dropped me off at my apartment and I looked out of the window as I saw Matt drive off. I wished he was mine.
The next shift, we were through half the shift at 8:00 p.m. when Hallie walked in. She went straight to Matt's office. On my way to the laundry room, I saw that the blinds were shut and I heard occasional moans and grunts.
I brushed it off, knowing that they were having sex, but it was totally unprofessional. I scheduled a talk with Matt in my brain for later, then went into the laundry room. While I was folding some towels, I heard the door open and close. I turned around and saw Nicki standing there.
"Hey, Dixie, can I have the spare key to Kelly's apartment? I know you have one. I know my father probably yelled at Kelly and pushed him away so I want to surprise him with champagne and candles." Nicki requested, giving me a shit-smile.
"No shit, Sherlock. But you're wrong about one thing. Your father isn't the one that pushed Kelly away. You're fucking engaged, so, no, I'm not giving you the damn key." I replied, cussing in her face. She left with a huff (and no, not a huff and a puff and she blew the room down). I finished folding the towels and saw Hallie leaving with a post-sex glow and a messily buttoned shirt. Her blouse was ruffled. I sighed and walked towards Matt's office.
Knocking on the door, I heard a 'come in', so I pushed open the door and saw Matt sitting on his bed with the same post-sex glow Hallie had.
"Matt. You're being extremely unprofessional." I said, closing the door and leaning against the doorframe.
"What are you talking about?"
"You know much better than to have sex at work. What the fuck, Matt, she has a boyfriend."
"She was mine first."
"No, Matt! You are being extremely childish! She's with someone else now!" I shouted.
"Ha. You're just jealous because you like me and I fucked her, not you." Matt scoffed and I felt my heart break.
"Captain, you just crossed the line you wished you never did." I replied and stormed out, not before seeing the regret in Matt's eyes. It was so unlike him to snap at me like that, especially acknowledging that fact that I liked him.
"Dix! Dix, I'm really, sorry, I shouldn't have said that."
"No shit, Sherlock." I replied, rolling my eyes.
💖! Sorry for the short chapter, btw.
