Serena was surprised when her parents greeted her when they arrived at Platform 9 ¾. They were standing alone away from all the other parents. Vance had his arm wrapped around his wife and neither one of them were smiling.

“Mum! Dad!” said Serena a little surprised as she walked over to them. Oliver was following close behind her.

“Hello darling,” said Faye as she managed a smile at her daughter.

“I wasn’t sure if you knew I was coming,” said Serena stopping in front of them. Oliver stopped beside her. “This is Oliver,” she said as she introduced him. “My boyfriend.”

Her parents reacted exactly how she thought. They both stared at her wide-eyed but tried not to be rude in front of Oliver.

“Nice to meet you Mr. and Mrs. Carrow,” said Oliver as he held out his hand.

“Oh it’s so nice to meet you too,” said Faye as she shook his hand. Serena’s mum always did her best to remain polite. Her father on the other hand just stared at him as he shook his hand.

“We – uh – we didn’t even know Serena had a boyfriend,” said Faye with a small chuckle.

“We’ve been dating for about a year now,” said Serena. “Oliver plays Quidditch too.”

“Ah, what position?” asked Vance. Serena knew if she talked sports her father would be interested.

“Keeper,” said Oliver.

“Excellent,” said Vance. “Where are your folks, Oliver?”

“Uh – actually dad…he’s staying with us over break,” said Serena. She got another wide-eyed reaction out of her parents.

“Were you planning on telling us?” asked Vance.

“Were you planning on answering my letter?” said Serena in retaliation. “Can we not discuss this here?”

Vance and Faye looked around and decided it was best to go back to the house. Oliver held on to Serena while Serena held onto her parents and they Apparated into her living room.

“When can I take my Apparation test?” asked Serena as she stumbled into the living room.

“When you set up a date,” said her father.

“Of course,” said Serena as she rolled her eyes. She looked over at Oliver and he was looking all around her house in amazement.

“Your house is beautiful Mrs. Carrow,” said Oliver.

“Oh please, call me Faye,” she said. “Shall I go get dinner ready?”

Faye pranced out of the room and left Serena, Oliver and Vance alone.

“So, when did you make this little plan?” asked Vance as he sat down on the couch. Serena and Oliver sat down at the one across from him.

“When you answered my letter…but you didn’t,” said Serena.

“Serena, don’t get smart with me.”

“How about you start giving me some answers?” snapped Serena. She didn’t mean to go off on her father like this but she wanted some answers. Her parents never told her anything that was going on and she was sick of it. Oliver awkwardly sat quietly.

“What are you talking about?” asked Vance.

“I’m talking about why you never told me that Sirius Black is my uncle?!” yelled Serena. She looked right into her father’s eyes and could tell that he was surprised or scared. Her mother was standing at the kitchen door just as surprised as her father.
