THIRD PERSON'S POV.
Anubis House breakfast were always known for one thing: catching up on drama that happened the day before. But today, breakfast wasn't as dramatic as usual. Instead, a comfortable atmosphere hung around the room as the housemates conversed in separate conversations.
River Lawrence was trying to convince her blonde roommate that she did not need to get blonde streaks, while Amber Millington was trying to get Nina Martin and even Fabian Rutter to agree with her.
"Why do I need to get blonde streaks anyways?" River scoffed, her hand leaning on the empty seat between herself and Fabian. "My hair is fine."
Amber shook her head. "No, it's not. It's a bit boring."
"Boring?" Nina and Fabian shared an amused smile as River went on. "What's boring about it?"
"Well, for starters, it's been the same length and color since year nine," Amber began before holding a lock of her own blonde hair. "Mine's grown a lot since last year and I've added blonde dye too. Just think about it."
Releasing an exasperated breath, River looked to Nina and Fabian. "Guys?"
Nina shrugged. "You'd look great with blonde streaks."
"I think your hair looks fine," Fabian answered.
"Thank you, Fabian," River said, sending pointed looks to Nina and Amber. "Glad some people back me up."
"Well, of course he thinks your hair looks fine; his is just as boring," Amber stated, earning a frown from Fabian and a chuckle from Nina.
The brunette girl shook her head with an amused smile. However, that flated when someone from behind Nina emerged from the hall and into the dining room. That also caused the chattering atmosphere to died, everyone's attention on the blonde boy. River removed her arm from the empty chair as the same boy she bumped into yesterday made his way to the seat, embodying a, somewhat, 'cool and confident' strut. Whoever Edison Miller was really thought he was all that.
The first person to break the awkward silence after the American boy sat down was Nina, who stood up with a pitcher filled with orange juice. "Would you like some OJ?"
"Finally! Someone that speaks English," the boy said in relief. River narrowed her eyes at him, considering it was a bit ironic that he said that in a room filled with English teens. "You're the best thing I've heard since I've gotten here."
The female prankster shared an amused snort with Alfie at the American's flirtatious remark. Nina replied with a teasing chuckle. It was weird seeing Nina flirt with someone who wasn't Fabian, but River assumed her American roommate was doing this to irk Fabian.
