"Has there been any news since the article a few days ago?" My arms were crossed firmly against my chest as I leant again the kitchen counter. Jake was in front of me with Corey beside him. Jake was sitting down at the counter bar opening and closing his hand making a single flame grow and shrink and Corey was standing up leaning against said bar occasionally sending wind in his direction laughing every time he blows the flame out making Jake glare at him."Nope," Corey sighed finally snapping his attention from the flame to me. "We've looked Colby however there's only so many places we are physically aloud to go meaning only certain places they can go. We don't know where they are," I groaned as Corey explained.
What he was saying is true, yes we can go down to earth if we have our partners, if we were a couple element, but we were only aloud in certain places, meaning we aren't aloud to leave them places. A barrier stops us and if we go over said barrier we get even weaker with our powers making the elements on earth go completely crazy and possibly risk exposing us. However if we go back over said barrier our powers start getting stronger and stronger until we're at full potential again.
"Is it possible they went over the barrier? And they've just stepped back over somewhere hence the single beam of light," I quizzed the duo making them think.
"I guess so. But no one new has been spotted in said areas. It's always the same people," I groaned as Jake spoke throwing my head back. "I know it's hard Colby," Jake started before I cut him off.
"You wouldn't know Jake, you met Tara when you were younger, before your full powers came in and we had to take over." I snapped slightly shaking my head. "You don't know how much it sucks being the only person physically not allowed down on earth. I can't check if everything ok with the darkness or anything."
"Colby-," Corey trailed off as I shook my head pushing against the counter and standing up right.
"I'm going out," I muttered walking past the duo to walk into the main living area grabbing my shoes along the way and my keys.
"Colby-," I turned quickly ready to snap at whoever was trying to stop me but I visibly calmed down seeing it was Kat and not one of the guys.
"You heard didn't you," I whispered shaking my head "look if you're going to tell me not to leave then don't bother. I'm not going down to earth I just need to leave this house for a bit, go the park or town somewhere not here." I begged "I'm surrounded by people who are currently living a life I want to live and I can't. And sadly it seems like I'm no where near closer to that point. I need this," I knew I sounded weak and helpless but I needed her to understand where I'm coming from.
No one else ever does, but Kat does and so does Devyn since they were late finding each other to.
"I was going to tell you to be safe and make sure you come home before the guards go out and check." I nodded understanding.
We had a slight curfew we had to uphold, everyone who lived up here had to be in by a certain time, hidden from the world below, it would usually be when it was day down on earth, we sleep and hide away and do our 'jobs' during the night. However without the signs of light peering around us, and the constant darkness below we never know when it's that time. Hence the guards making sure we're home.
"And don't use your powers!" She called out to me as I turned and headed out the door. I rolled my eyes at that one knowing I wouldn't, but if I really had to I would. I walked down the street, scuffing up my vans against the concrete beneath my feet and weaved in between couples and people also walking in the same direction. I passed a couple of shops with people sitting outside enjoying the weather and slight light we had around us, since we weren't effected by light disappearing. The scent of fresh bread and cakes filled the air making my mouth water slightly. I sent a small nod to the local baker as I walked past, him currently placing pieces of fresh homemade bread outside to draw people in, although everyone knew he was the best baker in town and always went to him.
