I froze as I heard movement outside the house. It has been a few days since Colby and his friends let me stay over and I haven't left once, by choice. I knew if I got caught I would be locked up in my room once again for a lot longer then I was before and that would mean not seeing Colby. Speaking of the group, I was left alone. Colby had gone out to the market to pick up some snacks for our movie night with the house. Katrina and Devyn had gone on a walk to the park for a picnic as a date and Tara and Jake went to walk around together.

I had been left, wanting to stay inside anyway. I walked into the kitchen before freezing again as my eyes locked with the noise outside. A few deep breaths later and my eyes sight focusing again I realised it was my father and that made me run. Quickly I turned and ran up the stairs knowing well that Colby had locked the door when he was last to leave, to stop guards walking in unexpectedly. I ran into Colbys room, where I had also been staying on the sofa, before grabbing my phone off his bed and running into the bathroom slamming that door too.

My fingers shook as I unlocked my phone and headed onto kats number, knowing she was probably the closest home. Silently I dragged my phone to my ear holding it securely as I focused on the, now banging, downstairs on the front door.

"Sam?" Kats confused voice sounded snapping me back into the room.

"Kat he's here, he saw me. I didn't mean for him too. I was walking into the kitchen and he was looking through windows," I blurted out, my words coming out in a fast jumble of nonsense.

"Sam, Sam, Sam," she muttered snapping me effectively out the rambling leaving my lips. "Who?"

"My father," I simply whispered flicking when hearing an even louder bang on the door.

"Stay where you are," Kat ordered her voice full of fear, "Dev is on the phone to Colby and he's on his way back with Jake and Tara. Me and Devyn are down the road," she quickly explained before swiftly hanging up leaving me in silence. I felt my eyes fill with water as the bangs got quicker and louder, the sound of the door handle now filling the air.

And then everything froze, darkness surrounded me making me gasp and nearly scream as a hand covered my mouth.

"Shh, it's just me," I eased into the body and hand recognising Taras voice "let's just say Colby has a new tree outside his window,"

Shouts were heard from downstairs as Tara moved her hand letting my breathing go slightly back to normal. I picked at the skin around my nails straining my eyes to try and see around me.

"He can't get in by the way," Tara breathed out "Kat and Devyn put mud outside the doors in the gaps and I added water to harden it. He's also currently in darker darkness then us thanks to Colby." She started explaining "and well jakes just making sure he don't get close to the house,"

"Sorry I ruined your guys day, if I only stayed up here," I whimpered slightly pulling at the strands of hair. Taras hands gripped mine pulling them away from the torture on my head.

"Your safety is more important to us Sam. And you can't stay locked up in here all day and night we knew you would want to leave Colbys room. You are not a prisoner," she explained strictly making me sigh and nod, her words not making me change my mind.

"I know," I whispered as the noises quietened slightly, the sounds of metal filling the air.

"That's the guards I called them on the way here to alert us of our camera going off that someone was at the house. I know it was a risky move but they have your dad now and they won't come inside," she explained making me nod again. I had calmed down slightly until a single voice was shouting again, and this time I recognised it as Colby. My body shot up without command as I walked towards the door gripping the handle firmly.

"Sam you can't,"Tara whispered holding her hand up.

"Tara..." I muttered twisting the handle.

"No!" She yelled pushing her hand towards me a strong wave of water hitting me and knocking me down. However she miss judged how close I was to the counter making me hit my head as I fell, the final thing I saw was a strong beam off light lighting up the whole room.

(COLBYS POV)

"Are you serious?" I cried out as I walked into my room seeing Tara sitting by Sam, holding a damp flannel to his forehead.

"He's fine Colby. He didn't hit his head that hard, he passed out because he used his power to strong," she muttered removing the flannel making my eyes widen.

"What?" By now Kat and Jake had joined us, Jake instantly going to Tara to check her and glance over Sam.

"He heard you yelling and he panicked. He went to leave the room and well I maybe of blasted him with water knocking him down. I don't entirely know why but as he made contact with the floor a bright beam of light filled the room," she explained. "You in potential danger made his power come out,"

I was about to speak until movement besides Tara made us all look down at the blonde. I silently shooed Jake, Tara and Kat out the room before sitting next to Sam, dabbing the flannel on his forehead.

"Colbs?" His voice whispered making me haunt the movements

"Yeah, it's me sunshine," I whispered back making him smile slightly.

"What happened?" He muttered shifting his body slightly so his head was lying on my lap.

"Well your father tried to get in," I briefly explained. "And well there's now a tree outside the window that got Tara in and faint mud by the bathroom door. He argued, didn't get physical before you panic," I added seeing him open his mouth. "And the guards came, he charged at me, blaming it all on me and that's the yelling you heard and well he got dragged away."

"Colby-," he muttered making me hum slightly as a response "there was a beam of bright light,". I sighed hearing them words before nodding. "Was it your soulmate?"

"You could say that," I whispered avoiding his eyes.

"But you said he died? How did it all happen?"

"Because Sam, he's you."
